“Little piece of paradise for wine lovers”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

We enjoyed a lovely hour at the Mission Estate Winery, the oldest established winery in New Zealand. What a tremendous setting this cellar door provides perched on top of a small rise from Church Road in Napier. We were very impressed by the Riesling which was available for tasting, together with the Pinot Noir. It was a shame we did not have more time to settle in for a nice relaxing lunch at the restaurant adjacent to the cellar door.

Our hosts behind the counter were extremely hospitable and could not do enough for us during our short stay. I hope we can make a return visit and enjoy the surrounds again one day soon.

“"For history and wine buffs!"”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

This beautiful winery in a historic monastery offers an excellent, free wine tasting. The pinot gris was our favorite, and the syrah and the merlot were also outstanding. The brief tour of the building was fascinating and entertaining, thanks to our witty guide Trevor. The setting is spectacular, and we stopped to take pictures of the sheep grazing in the vineyards.

“Dream Setting and great wine from friendly staff”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

We started our own wine tour with this winery. As we drove up on this wet Sunday morning the surroundings took away the damp thoughts and as soon as we stepped through the doors of this converted missionary my breathe was taken away by the sheer beauty of the building.

As astonishing as the building is I must not forgot we were there for a wine tasting and as we came to do so we were greeted by a lovely man called Trevor (and assistant Yvonne). He guided us through many tastings and had humour and friendliness to match the romanticism of our surroundings.

Trevor's knowledge and friendliness made an impression on us and when we returned the following day he seemed to remember myself and my friend too.

What more can you ask for in a prime example of customer service.

Seriously though if you like your wine and want to sip (and dine) with a gorgeous view this winery is up there at the top and as a great big added bonus the staff were so courteous.

“Great dinner in Napier”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

We enjoyed a great dinner at the winery restaurant. Our table had an amazing view of the estate. The food and wine were both very good -- we would definitely return!

“A Must Do When in Napier !”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

We arrived at Mission Estate not sure what to expect, but were overwhelmed with the friendly service by Trevor and Yvonne at the wine tasting area. Trevor was our host for the tour which I would recommend if you are visiting around 2pm, it was very informative and done with a brillant sense of humour. Our tastings were also loads of fun with trevor and he was very attentive to our questions/conversation. We bought a red to cellar in 10 years and I know then we will remember the afternoon we spent with trevor at Mission Estate Winery!!
