“Wonderful small winery meals”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

Great place for a winery experience in a very relaxed, child friendly environment. This is not a posh restaurant/ winery experience like most wineries in the Hawkes Bay but a very laid back venue. Indoor and outdoor seating with lots of little rooms, all with character!

We arrived near the time of kitchen closing so there was a lot of seafood not available on the menu (a sign of freshness of the food!). What we did get was probably the freshest, tastiest meal we have had in years. Prawns and scallops were perfection. Simple and tasty.

Sauvignon Blanc was yum, chardonnay rich and buttery. Kids enjoyed the venue too - great kids menu.

Staff were a bit shirty and extremely frazzled. Not sure why - it wasn't that busy at the end of the lunch sitting and there seemed to be adequate staff. There was a complaint about the high number of walk-ins (which we were) but it was holidays in a holiday spot - should not have been a surprise to them.

Would definitely return. Recommend booking for a table for more relaxed staff!

“Loved it”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

Really enjoyed our lunch here. Shared a platter which was slightly more expensive than other platters we'd had at vineyards in the area but with Kikorangi Blue cheese etc you expect to pay a bit more. Great gewurtztraminer. And loved the setting too - laid back and funky. Will be back - hopefully for one of their Friday nights.

Really nice relaxed atmosphere, really helpful staff. Great for lunch, wine tasting, dinner, relaxing back listening to some great music on a friday night and/or book it out for a special celebration party. Gorgeous food, great selection, awesome wine.

“signature dish”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

I would say that this year's signature dish was memorable.
Perfectly cooked, flavoursome and attractively plated.
This was the best dish out of the other half dozen that i tried this year.

“Very enjoyable lunch”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

Stopped here on way to Napier. We had a very enjoyable lunch fresh groper fillet on a sheet of puff pastry and prawns and scallops on a sweet potato rosti with lime coriander dressing.Went very well with their Pinot Gris and for desert sticky date pudding with a glass of botrytis semillon .Our waitress Aroha was very friendly and helpful.I think that they only do lunch from Thursday to Sunday.
