Great place for a winery experience in a very relaxed, child friendly environment. This is not a posh restaurant/ winery experience like most wineries in the Hawkes Bay but a very laid back venue. Indoor and outdoor seating with lots of little rooms, all with character!
We arrived near the time of kitchen closing so there was a lot of seafood not available on the menu (a sign of freshness of the food!). What we did get was probably the freshest, tastiest meal we have had in years. Prawns and scallops were perfection. Simple and tasty.
Sauvignon Blanc was yum, chardonnay rich and buttery. Kids enjoyed the venue too - great kids menu.
Staff were a bit shirty and extremely frazzled. Not sure why - it wasn't that busy at the end of the lunch sitting and there seemed to be adequate staff. There was a complaint about the high number of walk-ins (which we were) but it was holidays in a holiday spot - should not have been a surprise to them.
Would definitely return. Recommend booking for a table for more relaxed staff!
