“Delicious small plates to share”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

Emporium is a very nice restaurant (part of the famous Masonic hotel) with nice art-deco design. The food was excellent - we had the option of 4 small plate dishes and a pizza to share, which was enough for 3 people (for 75 NZD - good value!). The small plates were delicious, and so was the pizza (apart from slightly too much salt).

“An indispensable visit”
Reviewed January 20, 2014

The first time we visited this place was to have some drinks with marinated olives and fries (a standard appetizer for us during our stay in New Zealand). We were surprised when we saw for the first and only time that wine by the glass was served on tap, as it is usually done with beer. Nevertheless, the "sauvignon blanc" my wife and my son had was perfect, as it was also the pint of "Emerson" beer I decided to have. We also enjoyed very much the splendid decoration of the bar and decided to come back the next day to have lunch in the veranda, the weather permitting.
The lunch menu of the "Emporium" offers the possibility of choosing among a series of small dishes, but bigger enough to be shared. We chose four of them, all well prepared and served, with a bowl of fries (we liked much those we had had the previous evening), two pints of "Emerson" beers and a bottle of ginger beer. All of which amounted to 86 n.z.dollars; a price we considered very reasonable given the quality of the food, the excellent way we were looked after and the ideal location of the veranda. We recommend the visitors of Napier not to miss this experience.

Hello Miguel O and thank you for taking the time to review us.
As we are right on the parade with the ocean close by we are fantastic place to sit outside and just watch the day go by, while enjoying a glass of wine and a nibble.
Our shared plates are a great way to eat as it gives you the opportunity to try a few different dishes and casually eat and drink your way through the day.
We are glad you enjoyed your stay in our beautiful city and hope you make the rip again sometime.

“Great character & service, wi-fi is the best!”
Reviewed January 17, 2014

We dropped into this bar on a recent visit on a cruise ship and enjoyed the place so much that we spent a few hours there in the sunshine. We had struggled to get Wi-Fi in Napier and this place had exceptional Wi-Fi service.

We just had bread and oil and ordered a NZ SSB. The waiter advised that the SSB we ordered was not available but instead of upselling he suggested the SSB on tap (something foreign to us!). He gave us a try and it was excellent and half the price of the requested wine. The bread and oil was also fantastic and so we stayed around for a few more drinks before just making it back on to our ship before sailing time.

Service from the staff was excellent and the facilities and bar were just superb.

Thank you for your review
We have welcomed thousands of cruise ship passengers over the summer season with most of them taking advantage of Emporium or our ice cream parlour and Irish Pub.
We were the first place in Hawke's Bay to have wine on tap and it has been a great success as its fantastic quality and at a fantastic price as well as good for the environment as there is no bottles, caps, labels or boxes.
We also have a Marlborough Pinot Noir available on tap and hoping to add a Hawke's Bay option soon.
