The Palm City Motor Inn has a nice feel about it. The rooms are spacious and clean while the building and gardens are nicely maintained. Although not near the waterfront, it is located a five minute drive to the centre of the Art Deco core of downtown Napier and has easy access to the roads leading to the Hawkes Bay wineries. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful.

We booked the two bedroom apartment described as 'the ultimate'. We would not agree with this or the suggestion that familes have lots of space. The living area is very small and does not provide seating for a party of four other than by sitting on the single bed which is situated in the living area. While there are certainly two bathrooms, one is upstairs and the other at the rear of the apartment behind the kitchenette.
The apartments are clean and it was pleasant to be able to swim during the warm weather that we enjoyed in Napier.

We have stayed at Palm City Motor Inn for many years but this time found it to not be as accommodating as in the past. The restuarant was closed the whole 3 day stay. The room was not up to it usual standard of cleanliness. On returning to our home base I emailed to voice our concerns and have not had a response which I thought as customer relations we would have got some feed back after being on going yearly customers. I hope that they have taken on board the concerns we had as it used to be an awesome place to stay. As it is at the moment I would not recommend this Motel.

We had not responded personally to this guest because we believe the that the real reason for her unhapiness was due to the fact that their travelling companions wished to cut their stay short by 1 night without any prior notice despite being informed by letter that any reduction in nights for this peak mission concert weekend would result in them being charged in full. They claimed they had to leave urgently but when I refused a refund they went into town for 3 hours for lunch prior to leaving.
This guest was very chatty and friendly with the cleaners and ourselves up until this issue arose and there was never any sign during her 3 day stay that she was dissatisfied with her stay. We even tried to help her sell her extra concert tickets.

We stayed in a studio unit on a Saturday night. The restaurant was closed as it is not open seven nights.
The unit was stylishly furnished, the bed was comfortable and it was easy to make a simple breakfast when we chose not to order one of the room service breakfasts available. The toiletries, tea, coffee, chocolate provisions were well stocked. There was a shower and a spa bath in our bathroom and the room was reasonably spacious.
As we travel with our small dog, we discussed this when booking and the receptionist was very understanding even offering to babysit our dog when we went out for the evening. We did not use this service.
The only minor glitch was the inconsiderate party of people who decided to cook their breakfast on the barbecue opposite our room. They showed no consideration to any other guests and stood over the barbecue talking very loudly early on a Sunday morning.
This motel is conveniently situated as the Marewa shops and larger supermarkets are within walking distance. A good choice for accommodation in Napier.

We stayed for 2 nights in a 1 bedroom apartment and the accommodation was very clean and spacious with a big spa bath. The lady at reception was very friendly and helpful and although the restaurant was closed - due to Christmas - we were able to get breakfast which was served to our room and was great value for money. The accommodation was out of the main town, although I'm sure it would be within walking distance, but it was in a peaceful area, no noise and within a short distance to restaurants by car. There were quite a number of apartments and a swimming pool, which unfortunately we did not have time to use.
