A wonderful comfortable place to stay.Thankyou for returning my phone charger so promptly.
Have stayed many times and will continue to do so.Close to supermarkets and the Taradale RSA right nextdoor providing cheap meals and entertainment.Lovely clean swimming pool and owners allow guests to relax and enjoy. Lovely little girl helping Dad deliver the newspaper in the morning.Great to catch up with the friendly Lucy as well.

Stayed here 2 nights with family for a family wedding nearby. The unit was well designed, well equipped and very clean plus crisp cotton sheets and very effective blackout blinds in the bedrooms so that the sun didn't wake you up if you didn't want it to. The garden setting was lovely with outdoor tables and chairs outside the units to extend your living space. The kids made good use of the outdoor pool as the weather was very warm. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The 11am checkout was a bonus too.

Older couple here for 2 nights for a wedding at the nearby Mission we were bowled over by the total commitment to excellence this family-run - since 1969 - motel offered its guests. Starting with the decor of our unit 9, designed for two to four people, every detail was above the expected standard - from the cleanliness of it all, the beautiful kitchen and dining utensils, lovely decor with graceful low-key colour schemes and a few tasteful bright accents and carefully chosen furniture. For our friend in the living room the pulldown bed from the wall was wonderful - easy for an older person to set in place, bed all made up ready to go. Main bedroom with very comfy kingsize bed and big generous pillows, furniture where you needed it and the size one needs when travelling, not too big or too small. Bathroom decor with excellent lighting, thoughtful makeup removers, loads of linen, soap, shampoo, hairdryer and good mirrors, and the whole unit was designed by someone who really knew what they were doing. I'd say, a woman! Owners and staff were so helpful in every way and a delight to receive weekend paper on the doorstep. Even the pavers in the lawns are spaced for high-heel walking. Garden furniture was generous and we wished we could have stayed for a week! Even ice in the guest laundry! Thank you for such a perfect visit.

Stayed here with my sister, her husband and another friend while visiting Napier for a wedding. It was a short taxi ride from Mission Estate Winery where the wedding was happening, and an easy walking distance to some shops and restaurants, important as we had all flown into Napier.

For us the best feature of this motel was the helpful owner, who checked us all in at 8 o'clock in he morning, upgraded us for free as the other room was not ready and was generally just an awesome guy who went out of his way to be helpful.

Our room was really nice, and the whole feel of the place was warm, comfortable and relaxing. The gardens are well laid out creating privacy for the different groups staying here. And good wifi connection also appreciated, for IT dependent brother in law. A great stay, ticked all the boxes for us and then some.

We are now into the fourth week of a six weeks' motoring tour of New Zealand and usually remain one or two nights at each location. We would, without hesitation state that the Colonial Lodge is by far the best motel we have stayed in. Mark and his staff are totally service minded and will do everything possible to keep you happy. On top of this, the entire motel, grounds and gardens are immaculate. The layout of the motel is well conceived giving many secluded corners and interesting perspectives. The lawns, pathways, trees and planting are superb and tempt one to explore the entire motel. The rooms (we had a 1 bedroom unit) were contemporary, stylish and absolutely spotless and came equipped with everything you could wish for. It was easy to prepare breakfast in the kitchen, the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom sparkling. On the lawns are numerous picnic tables with parasols where one can breakfast or dine 'al fresco'. Even more, the motel is equipped with a superb heated swimming pool under a magnificent palm tree. We were there in fine weather but even on rainy days you can also have the pleasure of an indoor spa bath in tip top condition and a well equipped games room. To sum it up this motel has everything and a final plus: they are the only establishment we have found with an 11 am checkout Great value for money and for a couple who live in Norway a heartwarming experience to escape the Arctic cold. We will be back.

What a great stay we had. the rooms were very clean and spacious and the darkness of the rooms once the curtains we pulled were appreciated by us tired parent and our not so keen youngies to go to sleep. The other facilities available such as the games room, the play area, the spa and the pool were also great for us all. The host of the motel were very accommodating and very helpful with advise of things to do around the area. We had a great stay and would fully recommend this motel

Our family for four (2 adults 2 kids) recently stayed here for four nights. We found it incredibly welcoming and relaxing. Great games room and spa. We all enjoyed these. We loved the ambience of the garden and my daughters loved having a fresh orange every day!

Unfortunately the pool was being cleaned while we were there, but we can't wait to try it out on our next visit. The hosts were amazing, taking a genuine interest in our stay, recommending some places and even providing local news articles on events we had seen the day before.
The motel was super clean, well appointed and very spacious. The beds were warm and comfortable which is always a bonus!

The location was great with Taradale shopping just done the road and only a short drive away from Napier beaches, the best chocolate shop ever, Silky Oaks, and awesome Indian food, The Red Chilli. The local RSA was also welcoming.

We recommend the motel as a great place to stay. It was well priced and the facilities were top class.

Room Tip: 2 bedroom units were spacious and quiet. Great for the young ones!
