“"Owners Investment has paid dividends for Guests"”

Reason for Stay:
Were on a three week tour of both islands and made a Napier a specific stop as we are Art Deco fans.

Location:
Very easy to find on the front line of Napier. Although others have mentioned road noise it did not bother us during our stay and any would have been compensated by the relaxing view of the sea and skyline.

Reception:
A rather functional area looked as though it was a converted garage. Not at all in keeping with the rest of the designed building.

Service:
The manager during our couple of days/nights visit was receptive if asked. However, overall - when when we made a comparison with the many other places we stayed at, you could most defiantly get the impression that this was a job to him rather than him being the owner.

Parking:
Can be a bit tight if the motel is full as it was when we were there. However, on morning of departure managed to park outside the very useful luggage lift when packing up the car.

Accomodation:
We had a room on the first floor and you could not fault it. Got the impression that it had been re-fitted not long ago and a lot of thought had gone into the design and choice of furniture.
My only small quibble with the design is that when you run the bath - massive circular affair- if it is too full of hot water - you can’t reach the other side to let the water out in order to let in more cold. We ended up leaving the bath filled up all night and having a separate shower.

Value:
Excellent value for money in return for what has obviously been a large investment by the owners.

Summary:
If you are into Art Deco and the history of the town, Napier is an must visit. Would have no hesitation in booking here again.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor overlooking the sea.

This was a last minute booking (the day before we left) and anticipating technological problems I took a copy of the booking with me (it was also the last room) but there were no such problems. Check-in was super quick and efficient (and friendly).

Our room was on the first floor and had a separate lounge area with its own TV as well as a spa and TV in the bedroom area. There were basic kitchen facilities by the entrance. The room was spotless and comfortable. I loved the spa bath. The shower was very powerful. There were bathrobes (which we didn't find til the last morning! Oh well...) and a hairdryer as well as tea and coffee making facilities. The views from the patio doors was very picturesque.

It was a short walk into town (to the farmers market/restaurants/shops etc.)

I suppose the only downsides were that it is a little expensive (I thought it was worth the price however) and I did feel a vague sense of guilt that I had two spa baths in as many days...so much water...but it was also seem a waste to not utilise the spa on your holiday... You might also find the passing traffic a little intrusive if you're on the ground floor.

On balance, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The in room spa is great, the view is beautiful and the rooms were modern and comfortable. The location is good for walking to the nearby restaurants and attractions along Marine Parade. The only down side is that all the trucks travelling to and from Napier port go along Marine Parade from as early as 6.45am and so there is a lot of road noise. We originally booked to stay for 5 nights but switched to another hotel for our last night ( the Crown) so we could have a sleep in. If you value a lie in on your holiday, a quieter spot in town or in Ahuriri will be better.

We stayed for just 1 night (wish we stayed longer!). The room was perfect! Nice and spacious, comfy bed, awesome bathroom with a spa bath, clean and modern. The location was great, just a short walk down the road for dinner and a few drinks for our wedding anniversary. Would stay here again for sure.

I've stayed here every summer for the past three years, once with work and twice as a getaway with my wife. It's one of the best motels I've stayed in, anywhere in New Zealand.
The location is brilliant, with sea views and easy access to everything through pleasant walks along Marine Parade. Every room is great, with comfortable beds, big TV's, kitchen facilities, and big glass doors that open out to a balcony. The main feature of this motel, and the reason I keep returning, is that every room has a large spa bath positioned in the middle of the room, and it's one of the best spa baths you will encounter in any NZ accommodation.
You won't be disappointed. Give it a go, and you'll return there too.
