We stayed in the Nautilus for two nights over Auckland Anniversary wkend, our room was really good. Lots of room, large walk in shower, large spa bath which was very relaxing. The staff here were nice and friendly. Nice leather couch and two armchairs which made relaxing while looking out at the ocean a great way to wind down. When the bifold doors are open the traffic is quite loud, when they are closed it is very quiet. Little touches were a nice two seater by the entrance door so you can catch the afternoon sun outside, another is we asked not to be disturbed one morning - we went out about 11:45am and put the sign up asking for room to be serviced. this was done without any issue at all, such a nice touch - thank you Nautilus. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Definitely choose either the middle or upper floors.

We stayed at the Nautilus for one night and were extremely suprised at the quality of the room and motel. We booked a suite on the first floor and had a very comfortable stay. The motel restaurant was also excellent. All rooms are spotlessly clean and you have wall-mounted flatscreen TVs in the living room and bedroom, with the full set of Sky channels (including sky movies). Highly recommended motel, offering 4 star hotel quality for a motel price.

... we were given a ground floor unit facing ocean and as deck was so small and close to footpath it felt claustrophobic and even though there were net curtains people looked in. Lots of people walk passed and felt we had to keep curtain closed. Disappointing as part of choosing The Nautilus was to have a view of the ocean ... and there were cars parked in front of the unit which didn't help. Recommend asking for unit not on ground floor. Also shower was bit temperamental with hot/cold water and hardly any pressure.

Room Tip: Make sure you request unit not on ground floor.

We spent the New Year at the Nautilus, our room was spotless, comfortable and a sea view from our balcony, The owners were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. If you are looking for a weekend away or a longer stay i can highly recommend this place, its close to all the restaurants and we found Mint down the road excellent, the food was lovely of a very high quality and a really good wine list.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room, and sit on the balcony with a glass of wine and enjoy lovely.

We stayed in a premium suite and it was well worth it. Lovely views of marine parade and loads of space in the unit. And private. Didn’t hear noise from adjoining room. Traffic noise didn’t bother us.
Only issue with the suite we were in was the front door blew open in the night. We tried to put the chain on the door to stop this recurring however the chain was too short. So we had to shut windows to stop the door opening again.
We dined in the restaurant, fairly basic but good food. Service wasn’t great
The only issue we had with this place was the service from the Manager. He is the most unfriendly motel manager I’ve met. We didn’t get a nice friendly welcome and any time we had to deal with him was an unpleasant experience.
When I asked to make a booking for the restaurant he basically snapped at me saying to go to the restaurant. On another occasion I asked for some washing powder – he again snapped at me “what for”. When I said to wash my clothes he then told me it was in the tub in the laundry. He was very rude and didn’t make us feel welcome at all.
The room was great though. Apart from the bad “service” we had a great few nights stay

Room Tip: The premium suite was worth the money.

A clean & tidy exterior led to very spacious and well fitted out interior. Had a one bedroom with comfy bed, lovely bathroom. Didn't try the restaurant so no comment there. Did cook in the apartment though as well equipped. Thought this was a great location and fantastic value for money. Well recommended and would love to come back on next trip to Napier.
