The hotel is old and does require a update. However the rooms are very clean and are a good size. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. We had a special deal that included breakfast so we were not disappointed in the price we paid.

I am pleased that you were able to take advantage of one of the special offers the Hotel and the Millennium, Copthorne and Kingsgate Chain is able to offer.

The hotel is constantly upgraded, as allowed, and we have just received the first shipment of new furniture for the main lounge. The new breakfast buffet unit is now in use and the 2nd one will be completed as soon as possible complementing the new restaurant seating.

    Thank you for your feedback

    Kind Regards

we booked a suite - phoned at least 3 times to confirm that there will be 2 single beds in the lounge and a king size bed in the masters bedroom - at check in I was assued by the person whom I spoke with at least twice with a tone of exasperation "ÿes, we spoke on the phone twice, remember?" Lo and behold when we got to our room, there is only 1 single bed in the living room. we decided to move the single bed ourselves to find holes on the wall which the single bed was covering. no wonder they did not want to move it. the remote of the tv was mising - housekeeping came and started looking under the bed and under the sofa cushions - i thought it was so "barriotic"especially considering we are paying well for the room. breakfast is okay. apart from the reservation staff being rude and unable to follow requests and the room and furnishing being tired, it was all in all okay.

Room Tip: make sure you check the room before applying

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Yes there was a mis-communication and the reservationist remembers you calling 3 times to confirm your reservation. He is apologetic but thought that on each occasion he was being asked whether the suite was a two bedroomed room with a king sized bed and 2 single beds, which it is. He failed to pick up the requiement for the two single beds to be in the lounge.

Thank you for bringing the matter of the hole in the wall to our attention, our maintenance team have now fixed it. It was not being hidden but down low next to the skirting and not picked up by housekeeping. Nice of someone to punch a hole in the wall and not advise us of it.

    Kind regards

Have been staying at this Hotel on and off for over two years now, the company gets a cheap dinner bed and breakfast deal so I guess we'll be back
The rooms are huge but in real need of a make over. The TV in still an old glass tube 19 inch type, the lack of wall sockets is annoying but remember to look behind the curtains as there you will find the only socket on the bed side of the room, still just a bit far away from the network port so remember to take a extension cord or plug box with you.
The hot water in the 300 block is for some reason 10 degrees less than all the others so no matter how hard you turn the shower lever it is never quite hot enough
The toilet in the on suite is jammed in beside the shower so if you are of a larger build then you'll probably find the toilets off the bar to be more suitable
The beds may look King size but are two single mattresses and sometime of varying quality, one I had you almost fell out of one half of the bed onto the other
Breakfast was good but they are now serving a tomato-onion-mushroom-spinach SURPRISE which tastes and bad as it looks, install of the standard selection of each and NO BAKED BEANS how un-kiwi is that
Dinner at the restaurant 4 nights in a row gets a little boring with Meat and 2 vege - potato and bok choy and the soup that is invariable always the same shade of yellowy orange and tastes almost, but not quite, what it is meant to be

Thank you for your comments. As a regular guest please feel free to make comments direct to the Hotel in future and we will endeavoutr to help you. If you have a preference for room (some have split kings some don't) or wing we would be more than happy to accommodate. Your comment re the difference in temperatures between the wings is the first we have been made aware of this and will be looked into. TV's will be replaced on failure, some have already been replaced. The menu served in the restaurant has many varied main meal choices including 3 different pizza and 3 different pasta meals, shepherds pie, fish & chips, caeser salad and these are all available in addition to the grilled options. A new menu will be in place within the next month. Baked Beans are now back on the breakfast buffet and the mushroom mix changed. Thank you again for your comments and feedback.

    Kind regards

Had to go to Hamilton's Biggest Night Ever.
The Chiefs ate Shark that night and kept it down, winning the Rugby Super 15 in the process.
The Kingsgate was available, inexpensive and as professionally managed and run as our first visit here.
Our room, was as spacious as the last had been, quiet, warm and equipped with every available lotion potion and individual bathrobes.
Can't speak highly enough of this establishments staff and their professional manner.
Despite it's size, it feels welcoming and happy.
Thanks to management and staff for another great night away.

Room Tip: I'm certain that any room you book will be as good as the next, all are spacious, quiet, warm and welcoming.

Thank you for your kind comments and we appreciate the positive feedback. Of note we have just ordered new furniture for our lounge area, our breakfast buffet units are being refitted, new curtains will be puit up in the breakfast restaurant and the brick wall at the entrance to the Hotel will be finished.

As always , when funds are available, every effort is made to ensure the property is maintained and improved where possible.

Once again It's great to hear you enjoyed your stay with us again.

    Kind regards

This is a huge complex. You get two different keys to access your room! the first key is to unlock the wing and the second the room. This is made worse when you are a family of four and you are only issued with one key. It is time to move on and change to access cards which can be swiped at the doors. This will mean you don't have to stop, put down all of your luggage and wrestle with a key that won't unlock the door while trying to keep out of the driving rain. Now besides the keys the rooms are pretty basic with a small TV, but comfortable. Please sort the keys!!!

Room Tip: Look elsewhere if you have an option....

Thank you for your comments regarding the key system. Unfortunately it is very expensive to install card systems for the entry doors and all 147 rooms, but certainly the entry doors could be looked at. Internal access throughout the Hotel can be gained form reception or from the reception canopy area and it is disappointing that this may not have been conveyed to you. Thank you again for making your thoughts known to us.

    Kind Regards
