Beautifully done inside. Just not really much there. Although they did have an interesting band playing upstairs for the kiddies (something with the word muffin in it) and they were great.

It might be a case of having heard this place is great but my expectations being too high.

It's free entry so go see for yourself. You might just love it.

Took the grandchildren to the museum and exscite which is in the same complex and is a hands on science centre. They had a great time and didn't want to leave. The museum is interesting and free. A small charge at exscite.

Yes go and see. Have coffee at metropolis across road. Not worth paying to see the extras. Have a look first and then deside if you want to see the latest on display which changes constantly.

My family and I recently revisited The Waikato Museum to see the wearable arts exhibit. The staff were very, very welcoming and helpful on arrival, explaining each current exhibit and providing a brief history of each. The museum has wonderful interest exhibits which you can view at a charge but the permanent exhibits which document and display the local history, including a wonderful display from the four main tribes of the Waikato area is fantastic. There is currently a history of Hamilton with interactive displays and lots of information to teach visitors about the history of the Waikato area. The environment is amazing with a wonderful view of the Waikato River so you can stand and contemplate what it must have been like for early Maori and settlers as they discovered the area for the first time. Well worth a visit.

Arrived too early but no trouble! The man on the door let us in anyway and said we could wait in the warm! When you go early you have the place to yourself and this proved to be a wonderful advantage as we had unlimited access to all the displays.
Good idea for the school hols as a very friendly hostess helped us explain what was required. Good value for money and lovely people.
