“Is this really in Hamilton?”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

The food was superb. The service was great. Good wine list. Did i mention how good the food was and on the night we were there the street entertainment (drunk bogans drinking in a car being arrested) was fantastic.

But even without the entertainment the food is worth going there for,

“Fantastic Fine Dining”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

I guess that the more reviews that come in for Chim-choo-ree the less of a secret this fine restaurant will be! We entertained overseas guests there this week and they were blown away with the quality of the meal. Tony had the venison and said it was the best he had ever had. All the meals were exceptional and were a credit to the chef. Well done. Def will be back again.

“Wow”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

Went as a party of 4 to Chim-cho-ree for my wifes birthday, booked for a later booking 8:15. We arrived there around that time, very busy, very noisy but this added to the atmosphere and we didn't find it over whelming. Our table wasn't quite ready so had a pre-dinner drink at the bar including two very generous glasses of wine. Kim the owner/manager was an absolute delight, bubbly efficient friendly without being intrusive.
We sat at our tables perhaps 10 - 15 minutes later, ordered a bottle of wine, Kim's recommendation once she obtained what sort of wines we preferred, it was a great Pinot Noir and we had second bottle later, it was in the lower to the middle bracket of their price range rather then the higher end so Kim was not trying to push her more expensive wines.
While waiting for our entree's we were given complementary Hors d'oeuvre of tuna in a sauce or some sort, each just a mouthful but really nice. Our entree's that followed were equally as memeroble with my wife having confit of duck and myself confit of pork belly. Again Mains matched the rest of the meal excellent, I had Venison and my wife the Hapuka which she believed was the nicest fish she had ever tasted. The girls at our table finished with desserts by then I was full. When we went to pay we found our pre-dinner drinks were on the house because we had to wait for the table, this was neither expected or asked for and we didn't believe the wait excessive, but just goes with the rest of the execllent service we received.
The meal was well paced we don't like to rush and the timing felt just right for a long leisurely dinner.

Just a couple of things seemed of concern to others, meal size was fine I went away full, though to be honest neither of us are big eaters. The restaurant being crowded and noisy, it is a small restaurant and the noise just added character of the place, we didn't feel cramped and were able to converse in normal tones.

Best eating experience in Hamilton and we have been to some of the other highly rated retaurants some were great some not so. This one is really great we will be back!

“Best food in town!”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

We are regular diners at Chim Choo Ree. We find the food to be consistently excellent. The staff are friendly and suitably attentive. The biggest problem is choosing what to have. The Tuna Tartare is probably the best entree I’ve ever had anywhere.
