My husband and I stayed at the Fountain City Motor Inn as we were in town for an event at Claudelands Showgrounds. Previously being from the Waikato, had driven past this place hundreds of times, but this was our first stay. We were allocated room #17 and we loved it. It was an upstairs room to the back of the complex so furthest away from Ulster street as possible. (Ulster street is a busy strip and can be noisy with traffic at night) And overlooked the large grassy park beside and golf driving range behind. It was such a nice outlook. We had our own long, skinny balcony that ran the length of our room to enjoy it from. The room was spacious. Large 3 seater couch, dining table + chairs, large 42" Flat screen TV on the wall, and kitchenette (complete with complimentary 'real' milk for coffee/tea not that UHT in a pottle stuff!). It was a studio/1 bedroom unit as you could actually pull across a partition wall/door to close off the bedroom from the lounge room if you should choose. The bed was a luxurious Californian King which was enormous! Very comfy. The bathroom was spacious with a long vanity and wall to wall mirror - so no fighting for bathroom space. Some aspects of the room were a little dated, but they have freshened it up with modern bedspread, the flat screen TV, stainless mini fridge etc. And despite the age of the building - the rooms were immaculately presented and very clean. Off-street parking, indoor pool, and trampoline for the kids. Lady at reception was very sweet and friendly. Pak N Save, bottle store, takeaways just up the road if you need conveniences. The night life hub of Hamilton is at the other end of Victoria street, I would guess a $7-$10 taxi ride. So very accessible to everything. We were very pleased with our room, and would definitely stay here again. Great value too.
Points to note for getting the best out of your stay - request a room upstairs overlooking the park. Bring your own hair dryer - as the 1 in the bathroom is pretty tired.

Room Tip: Request an upstairs room overlooking the park. Ask for a room back from the road as Ulster Street is very busy and can be noisy.

We stayed here one night en-route from Auckland Airport to Ohakune.
The place had everything we needed and was very reasonably priced.
The room was clean and well appointed.
There is a big PakNSave just around the corner.

We enjoyed a very comfortable stay at this Motel this week. Comfortable bed and lounge furniture. Clean and easy to heat with the heat-pump. Helpful staff as well. Would stay again and recommend to others.

The Fountain City Motor Inn made our stay in Hamilton most comfortable & enjoyable. The rooms were warm, spacious & included everything you needed in a kitchenette setup. The servicing of the rooms was also of a high standard. And the reception staff were most helpful. You can't go wrong for the price you pay for this accommodation facility. I would recommend anyone travelling and requiring accommodation in Hamilton NZ to book at this place. My family and I will certainly be using them again whenever we require accommodation in Hamilton :)
