This is just what you see in most pictures. The place is just so nice and historic as it seems. We only stopped over for a night on our drive through New Zealand. But that does not change the fact that this is a clean, simple and with good space.
Since we were there in the off season, we were automatically upgraded to the next best room, which was huge and very nice for the money.
The location is very good, within walking distance from all the bars and restaurants, the rugby field, and the park. Highly recommend having a run around the lake.
The breakfast was also good, delivered directly to our room.
Overall a very pleasant budget stay.
Friendly welcome, handily situated, clean warm unit. Stayed in studio unit which was very comfortable- free plunger coffee as well as free internet. Could not fault it- and price was extremely reasonable. Will be back.
I was extremely happy staying at this motel. Not only was the owners Heather & John helpful & friendly but everything was easy to get to and the service was really good.I stayed here for 6 days during the Easter period and ordered breakfast which was wonderful and always on time!!The only downfall was the shortage of parking which due to its popularity made it hard to get a park if your away for a period of time..but all in all it was a great stay and I enjoyed it.The rooms were clean and the beds were so comfortable. As for being so close to town you could here the sounds of distant clubs within the CBD but wasn't enough to keep you up at night. So a job well done I will be looking forward to booking this motel when coming back to Hamilton!!
Two adults for $100/night special - my daughter and I spent three nights in Hamilton at Colonial City - what a great deal. 2 hours free internet each/night, good beds, reasonable shower pressure, tidy and clean facilities, flat screen TV with some Sky. Five minutes into the city, good parking at the motel, friendly hosts. Rated Very Good rather than Excellent only because of dated interior. However, would stay again without question.
The owners were very helpful and accommodating, they even lent us an umbrella to walk into town. Lots of local art in the town and nice restaurants.
