We rented the 2 bedroom Penthouse. Awesome view, nice and quiet, extremely spacious in living, fabulous kitchen, staff outstanding - helpful, friendly, enthusiastic, couldn't complain at all about the staff at all. Reasonably priced! To improve - update lounge room suite, not family friendly or overly comfortable, bigger TV in lounge room and put tv's in bedroom, points are there, just no tv's, couple of bar stools in kitchen would be awesome too and more than 2 chairs for balcony, need built in or hanging space in second bedroom. Gap between floor and bottom of glass rail on balcony feels too high, gave me heart palpitations when outside with my toddler. Otherwise, great price, absolutely spotless clean, feels like a home away from home. Private lift and apartment clean daily with fresh milk

The hotel was extremely comfortable and only a 10 minute walk to the town centre and several restaurants. Check in staff were friendly and efficient and the rooms modern and well equipped. Small balconies are available.

Fine hotel, very clean, large and comfortable one bedroom apartment. Friendly staff. Nice swimming pool. Beware, this hotel does not offer any service except front desk. No restaurant, jst that you know, but there are plenty nearby.
Observing the harbour activity during the day is interesting but when they start loading a timber ship all night it's not so pkeasant anymore. Constant movement of timber trucks and cranes is quite noisy.

Dear Karel V,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Trip Advisor.

The working port offers indeed some interesting viewing during the day. For quieter rooms and apartments, we would definitely recommend our City side units, which are not subject to the noise of timber loading and enjoy the sun from midday to evening.

Kind regards,
The Team at Portside Hotel Gisborne

Nice hotel if you get the harbour view rooms only. Fourth stay here and specifically requested habour view and was not advised until check in that this was not possible. Was not able to change booking as was told I would still be charged. There were no net curtains or tinted windows so room was in full view of Warehouse carpark. Was like being in a gold fish bowl. Staff not helpful, Very disappointing, a simple phone call or email would have been nice.

Room tip: Habour view rooms only ones with any decent views

Very nice apartment, dish washer as well as washing machine. Nice view of the port, small pool area and the water was relatively cold. Central location. Onsite restaurant would have made our stay even better.

Dear Steffen C,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Trip Advisor.

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. We do agree that an on-site restaurant would be an added facility to our property, although we are privileged to have a good selection of restaurants and dining facilities within walking distance.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Kind regards,
