We were here for two days. From the moment we went to reception we loved it. Welcomed professionally, the room was spotless and we loved that a fan was available in the room! We slept well and the staff also went out of their way to help and were chipper and smiley.

Room Tip: Any room would be clean.

Nice clean room, with small, modern bathroom. No kitchen facilites as such, but coffee/tea and fridge available with a jug of water in the fridge, which was nice because I really hate having to drink water out of the bathroom sink!
Right on the beach and continental breakfast included in room price.

2 nights at the Captain Cook motel and wished we could of stayed longer. Firstly, the welcome on arrival and all of the staff during our stay were fantastic. Secondly, cleanliness + water pressure +. We did'nt use the restaurant but had coffee there in the morning whilst reading the local papers, having a TV in this area also meant we could watch the morning news as well. Brilliant stay, whenever we are in Gisborne again we will pre book.

Room Tip: A selection of the studio units have only recently been built.

Spotlessly clean and tidy motel unit. Basic layout but has everything you'd expect and is very good value for money. No hesitation recommending the Captain Cook.

We stayed in a studio, which was fairly small. The queen bed was OK, pillows were nice. We were provided tea, coffee & biscuits as well as cold water in the fridge. Continental breakfast was standard, cereals and canned fruit. The bathroom was very compact, but thankfully had a shelf area for your things. We were happy to find laundry, except the outside lights didn't come on at night so I was walking back and forth in the pitch dark. The bouncy thing was deflated, that was a bummer. Free 100mb of internet a day was useful.

The beach is very close and it is an easy walk to city center. We were pretty happy here.

Close to city centre, close to beach (no view and no direct access to beach, but it's only a couple of hundred metres away), close to information centre.

Not sure if all units have spa baths, ours did (a reason for booking here). Usual selection of basic teas and instant coffee, and they give you a 300ml bottle of milk when you arive.

Room was a decent size. Ceiling fan was needed for us cooler weather types even in late October, so we were thankful for that.

Reasonable selection of TV channels - usual free to air and the common Sky channels one tends to get at hotels and motels, probably one or two more channels than expected..

I'm almost talking myself into giving them 4 out of 5 but somehow it didn't have enough X-factor for 4, so it's a 3-and-a-bit out of 5 which is still a good result.

A well presented clean room had every thing you needed including chilled water in fridge. Friendly staff and our unit was nice and quiet. Would stay again.
