“Lovely museum”

This is a great wee museum, well worth a visit. There are historic displays and recent works as well. We all had lunch in their cafe and the kids drinks came in old fashioned glass cream bottles. What a top idea for a museum!

“Free entry on Mondays”

We spent a rainy day here and really liked it. For a museum not overwhelming, just enough to stay interested and learn about the area and its history. Nicely exposed and planned.

“Quaint and unusual”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2012

So very not like a museum! Lovely little cafe, regularly changing displays, wonderful old photos and parts of a ship wreck to wonder around! Plus the surf section ( well it is Gisborne!) well worth a visit, oh and I forget, the lovely little absolutely complete oldest house on Gisborne, this place is a littl gem.

Discover the history of Gisborne and the East Coast; an authentic local museum, well-respected by the community. Has the most quirky maritime section - enjoy it all!
