“Best thing to do around Gisborne”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

Are you in Gisborne and do you have a car? Yes? What are you waiting for?! This is the place to be on a nice, sunny afternoon. Just make sure you don't leave valuables in the car, because the carpark is not as save as can be wished for, but the slides are just the perfect thing and they cost nothing at all!

“simple magical fun..and free!”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

We visited here via Old Coach Road Motu - that road trip in itself is a real must do - but the visit to Rere was absolutely worth the effort - simple magic - sitting on tubes and letting nature do the rest. All ages, shapes and sizes will enjoy this. Was disappointed by those who left their rubbish behind - bins were full, but then at least take it home with you!! People watching was worth the journey too - Mother Nature sure did create something magical here - :)

“Something different for thrill seekers”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

It's about a 1 hour drive from Gisborne city. The drive itself is great. Bring a bodyboard if you're a thrill seeker, but note you'll be doing the slide at your own risk as there are no accident and emergency centres near by. There are also signs saying, the water isn't safe to swim as it may be contaminated and make you sick.

We didn't go for a slide nor swim, but we still had fun taking photos of people involved in the action.

Also, check out the nearby Rere waterfalls, again it's not safe to swim because of contaminants, but a great place to take photographs

“Awesome, natural, free adventure fun!”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Fabulous time, experiencing true natural thrills. Took boogie boards and wetsuits, and was glad to have protection. Well worth the drive.
The only dampener was signs posted around warning of dubious water quality that could cause illness.

“Back to nature with a bonus”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

This is a great place to visit, but don't go over the new year period! We couldnt get near the place for cars and hundreds of people on new years day, pick a quieter time if you can and have the place to yourseff. Also I would recommend you are a good swimmer or wear a life jacket, the water at the bottom is extremely cold and a shock!
