Lovely atmosphere. Good selection of yummy wines. People at the centre are helpful and friendly. Sometimes have live music which makes it especially good.

The Wine Centre is set in a unit on the dockside in Gisborne so is easily accessible on foot from any central hotels or car parks. You can choose to buy by the glass or select a 'flight' of 5 wines (there's 2 flights to choose from) for a tasting.
I personally found this to be a better way than cellar door tastings as you got a wider range of growers and there was no pressure to buy as you'd paid for the tasting. You can also get a selection of light snacks to go with the wines to help make a relaxed afternoon of it.
Buying a bottle to drink in is a bit more wine bar prices, but if you select a bottle to go they are close to cellar door prices so is good value

We went to this great wine bar for a casual Friday afternoon drink and relax after our journey from the Bay of Plenty. We settled in with a couple of nice glasses of Chardonnay and selected a 2 cheese, cheese board - which was delicious, we soon had wiled away 2 hours with the great outlook to the marina and river and harbour beyond. We would go back in a flash.

I love meeting or taking friends here. Its a cool location being right by the working harbour. The service is superb - Marcus sets a friendly and professional tone. And you get to enjoy our local delights in drinks and food - what could be better!

We went here on a busy friday night. We had to stand as there were very few seats. The two chardonnays we tried $8.00 and $9.00 a glass were so so. The atmosphere was a bit clubsy : we would have liked to settle in here for few drinks but it all felt odd, unwelcoming, uncertain in its role and function. I was happy to leave and would recommend the wines at the local vineyards fir a more welcoming experience.
