Had a catch up with work colleague for lunch. We sat inside merely because of the breeze but even so had a very good meal. The café has a very good turn over and at lunch times can get quite busy. Sensibly priced, fast service but NOT fast food. It was plentiful, well cooked, well presented and well priced. The setting overlooks the marina which is great to see the different sorts of craft there. It is also in the shadow of the Auckland Harbour Bridge and has parking literally outside the door. Most enjoyable for a lunchtime, no music so easily able to chat and a place I would more than happily return to.

OK it is not 5 star dining but what you get is good value and certainly don't leave hungry!

It is a treat to find a cafe right beside the water in Auckland, and Sitting Duck has a perfect, relaxing spot beside the Westhaven Marina, and below the city side of the harbour bridge. Parking is fairly easy either beside the cafe or along the waterfront in either direction. About half-a-dozen tables are situated outside at the water's edge, with with an umbrella for shade. More tables are inside with views through sliding glass doors to the marina. My friend and I arrived for lunch on a Monday when it was easy to find a free table. Orders are taken at the counter, though menus were not easy to initially see, being in a box behind a pillar. There is also counter food, and prices are in line with NZ cafes. Service at the counter was particularly slow, with a queue back to the door of diners waiting to order. Only one staff member was taking orders and working the till, which was the cafe's only downfall. You can help yourself to the jugs of water provided. Our friendly waitress delivered the food in good time. My dish of squid rings contained a large salad featuring lettuces, beetroot, carrot, gherkin and capers, and probably two hoods worth of squid rings; an ample meal. My friend's dish of mussel fritters with salad was also a good size. I notice this cafe is often busy, especially for breakfast or brunch; it is a pleasant place to sit in the sun and take time over a meal.

You don't have to be a tourist to enjoy this café. It has an enviable location at Westhaven Marina, right beside the city approach to the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
Our most recent visit was just days ago when we met friends for brunch. It was a glorious day so we sat at one of the tables outside, beside the marina. Service was prompt and friendly. Our drinks arrived promptly and the meals were on the table before we knew it!
We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and we found them to be quite reasonably priced.
From our table we not only got a great view over the marina but we looked straight out to the harbour bridge where we could see the bridge climbing teams preparing for a walk/jump.
I would definitely recommend this café to locals and tourists alike.
