Went here for our daughters birthday this week
Food was quite nice but the experience was totally ruined by the most appalling service ever.
Rude and totally inept. We have 3 daughters who were v well behaved but seemed unwelcome.
The maitre d (didn't get her name, blonde curly hair) was impolite and frankly rude from start to finish. Took us to our seats without a word and this seemed to be her modus operandi all night.
The waiter was non existent and we had to flag one over for drinks and bread having been seated for 30mins
Utter rubbish. Would recommend giving this place a very wide berth. Many many much better restaurants in Auckland

A group of 9 had lunch recently & at least two of us were disappointed. The restaurant was amazing with a great view. Service was good, including a waitress who took a great photo of everyone. My husband with 2 of the other men ordered the roast which came out on a large plate with in my opinion had enough vegetables & meat for 2 people together with a very small jug of gravy. There were about 2 very small pieces of potato, kumera, pumpkin, onion, carrots, mushrooms & parsnip. 6 small slices of meat & 2 pieces of crackle (not 3). My meal was chicken with dumplings - the chicken was nice, the bok choy was bitter & the dumplings were curry nothings. Total meal would have fitted on a bread & buuter plate! I know that big meals aren't the in thing but this was not value for money.

We decided to take some friends visiting from England to the harbourside restaurant Mikano. The design of the place is to enhance the view and a sunny Sunday meant there were plenty of boasts on the harbour, making for an interesting view.
Service upon arrival was excellent - we were lead to a perfectly placed table by the window. The menu was superb - a great choise although we settled for seafood. Our guests were wine buffs and the wine list did not disappoint withe some excellent New Zealand wines available.
We have been to Mikano before - definitely a restaurant for an occasion or to show off Auckland Harbour to vistors. Excellent food, great service and friendly and attentive staff.

Our first visit to this restaurant - we took advantage of a special degustation meal offered on Grabone. The service was excellent a waiter hovering in the vicinity of our area of the room anticipating customers' needs. An interesting location right on the water and beside a working port and the rescue helicopter base. The food was delicious - I could be picky and find fault but overall we enjoyed our meals which arrived at the table at well timed intervals even as the place became busy around 8pm. The entrance is less than auspicious but I judged the establishment on the food and the service rather than the aesthetics

It's all good here - I would like to not like it as it is all glass and should have no atmosphere but actually I do really like it and the food is great. Service is great - you get to watch the rescue helicopters in action and it has a nice feel to the place.
