Went for anniversary. Ive been a few times now. Would reccomend.
The thing I like is the portion sizes.
you see I like to eat, so one thing that annoys me when "fine-dining" is that whilst its all fine and good to have super fresh, cutting edge menu items, prepared by cullinary experts, if I leave the restaurant and I am not 100% stuffed, then I always question the money I pay. I don't care how awesome the chef thinks they are.
Orbit is good in that whilst its not going to serve you goat ice cream topped with the skin of some obscure fruit hand picked by ecuadorian orphans, the relitively simple fare they do serve is very well made, with large portion sizes.
Whilst not at a technical level the absolute best in Auckland, unless you are a media wanky type who drives an audi because its "cool"... you'll probably have a good time.
Mixed with the best view in town, spacious/private tables, All round its a solid pick and worth the slightly extra $$ for special occiasions, either romatic endevours, or family celebrations.
