Most fabulous place for the Mussels of your choice. Great Food - even if you are not a Mussels lover - Fabulous wine list - Atmosphere cosy and friendly and Staff look after you as a special guest. Cannot recommend enough. Went back for Breakfast and also very very good. Just go.. lovely little quaint lane way with cute outlook. 10/10

We had an incredible meal here when we were in Auckland. The menu focuses on local seafood, and the chef really brings out the best from the ingredients. We had a pot of steamed mussels, and a mixed sharing plate of different types of grilled mussels. We also tried the oysters and calamari. Everything was cooked to perfection.

The staff were warm and helpful. They were able to recommend dishes that suited our tastes, and dropped by just often enough to check everything was good without disrupting our evening.

A few other reviewers have said that they had trouble getting seats. We got there at 6, easily got a table, got a drink, and ordered different plates of food over a few hours. It was really busy by 7, so if you have your heart set on eating there, get there a little earlier.

The batter on their fish and chips is superb, light, fluffy, crispy...and the fish is moist tender and melt in your mouth yummy! For those who dare, you can get a meter long sausage as well. Good beer on tap, with many more in bottles. FUn place to go with a group of friends.

We stayed in Auckland three nights in May 2010 and ate dinner here twice. The first night we had the mussels and made our decision based on the recommendation of the locals sitting next to us and they happened to be cafe owners that gave us a free coffee the next day when we stopped by their shop :). There were so many appetizing items on the menu that we came back our last night in Auckland and one dish we ordered was the Chicken vol-au-vent. It was exceptional! Americans that we had met earlier that day on a hike ended up at the table next to us and upon seeing our dishes came over and asked what we had ordered. The Belgium beers are expensive here and the prices aren't listed so be aware that it could double your ticket total if you order a beer.

Famed for it's mussels, but i am no mussel lover, so i tag along for a meal.
It was not that crowded at around 3ish, service was rather fast.

While others were enjoying their mussels, i ate the chicken vol-au-vent (just a large chicken pie dissected) something belgian inspired i guess. It was delicious. I did try the mussels, it was fresh, but it did not convert me. U need not eat mussels, there are other nice food served within the restaurant too. So enjoy the ambience and company with it's great selection of beer and chill for the day.
