How refreshing to see a whole page of interesting under $50 wines but also some great Burgundy, well chosen Bordeaux and some of the best NZ wines from smaller producers. Food is first class but without the price tag of some of the more pretentious Auckland restaurants. Excellent charcuterie selection and attention to detail in the dishes which reminds me of some great dining in France (though much healthier). The real stars are the staff however; professional and unobtrusive, what a refreshing change from the overly friendly but incompetent that I've become used to. The acoustics are worth a mention too; quiet and subtle. A lot of thought has gone into this place; we'll definitely be back.

Interesting and beautifully cooked food, well presented and served. Not cheap but quaility comes with a price. Good value for the food received.

The location in mt Eden village is great. The tapas are delicious and the wine list extensive. The staff are really friendly and know the menu well. Great atmosphere to hat with friends or go on a date.

Three of us dined in the main restaurant for lunch during the week, we took advantage of the 2 courses for $29pp deal. The entree of fried calamari (which was over cooked and tough) and salad was disappointing. Our mains of tuna noisette was also uninspiring - again the tuna was over cooked.
I have eaten here many times in the past when the restaurant was owned by Michael Van Elsen (of Food Truck fame) and his wife; something has changed here guys. There was only one other table of two dinners in the restaurant at the time; maybe the word's already out!

We have been to Molten three times and always have a grea time. Sven and Sonya lead a great front of house team but the star here is the food. The gnocchi is really brilliant as is the pappardelle and the salt cod risotto with hens egg. The spatchcock is excellent as well. The wine list is huge and well thought out. The dessert choice is a bit limited unfortunately but all are tasty. I love the room but my only gripe is the music. Some jazz or blues or work music would be way better than what they currently play. The last two times I have been there they have has a terrible extended instrumental version of "Sexual Healing" playing featuring trumpets. It seriously is awful. Everything else is great!
