Description: A Master and Apprentice share mutual respect. The Master passes down knowledge but in turn learns from the Apprentice, one cannot exist without the other. What you’ll find at our Takapuna Beer House is not just beer, but a friendly, relaxed, and modern environment that’s about good times & mutual respect. So come on in, grab a seat and pass it down.

We went on "Mussels Madness Monday". Blankenberge house beer was on the menu but didn't actually exist. Food arrived suspiciously quickly. Mussels were warm and rubbery. Sauce tasted like it was out of a packet. Fries looked, and bounced, like they'd seen the fryer at least twice during the day. Bread was so stale that even toasting it couldn't save it. Manager was understanding.

I came here with friends in Auckland , having a great conversation here. But the food serve were slow and one dish even never came at the last. However , the location and surrounding are good.
And one more thing okay is the price , very reasonable.

Ordered fish of the day - was told it was Snapper. It wasn't. Was pleasant enough but the portion was comically small and the main ingredient was extreme quantities of butter. The thick black skin and fat layer on the fish (bluenose?) made over half the portion so got about 2 mouthfuls.

Service was slow and forgetful. Asked about the fish - no response. Asked again and was told the chef was angry and the fish was snapper. It wasn't. Left hungry and bemused. Think they might want to employ more staff, at least one staff member over 18 and a different chef.

My friends had the pot of mussels and seemed happy enough with them (when they finally arrived).

Attractive offer for a 1kg pot of mussels on Mondays. We ordered the blue cheese with side of fries (choice of artisan bread). Delicious! The other order of seared salmon in a basket in marinara sauce was divine too but very small helping for $17.90. (And no mention it was salmon cubes in menu). We had coffee with the Belgian waffles which completed a lovely meal. Really enjoyed the surprisingly good pub food.
Will be back!

We had high hopes for the latest in a long line of Belgian Beer Cafes - from Melbourne to Mission Bay.
Unfortunately, where the rest seem to get it all right, this one got it all wrong.
My hockey puck-shaped mussel fritters were either chewy or soggy (or both!). Our 'frites' were just oven fries with a thin mayo, and served in a magazine page(?)
The beer was also quite expensive. Even my Westmalle ($15 a bottle!) came 1) too cold, 2) with stirred-up sediment, and 3) was just dumped on the table for me to try to pour for myself.
Even the service was surly and off-hand.
Thankfully, there are many quality places to eat in Takapuna and a few decent Belgian Beer Cafes spread over Auckland.
Just avoid this one.
