Vulcan Lane - all Aucklanders know it. Why? Well, it's central and over the years it's been a kind of hub - I suppose it still is. There are some nice shops around but you will only need an hour to see it all.

“Vulcan beer heaven”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2012

Dropping in here for a beer or meal is very easy. Our visit was to O'Carrolls which gives great meals (excellent chunky chips) and huge tasty burgers. The beer list is impressive but watch the prices - esp the US beers which can give a sting. Great atmosphere and crack!

“More than just Vulcan Lane”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2012

This little area east of Queen street never fails to impress. The area is more than just Vulcan Lane and includes High Street, O'Connell street and even Fryberg Place if you need to sit and relax to the sound of running water. This place has some great little watering holes at the Queen Street end which can be pretty lively on a friday evening as well as some really good, though often expensive, boutique label shops plus one or two really nice little cafes and restaurants during the day. Well worth detouring off Queen Street for a look.

There are some great eateries in Vulcan Lane and it is certainly worth a visit. We were there earlier this year and enjoyed a lovely lunch and coffee!
