Fine dining so be prepared for a very large bill. The waitress we had was lovely, she was from another restaurant in the Sky Tower and had no knowledge about the food or wine.
I was a little taken back when the beer that was ordered was just placed on the table in a can and was not even poured into the glass. We put the beer can on the edge of the table to indicate we were ready for it to be taken but after the staff coming to our table over three times it was only taken away on the fourth visit.
The food was amazing. I just don’t think the cost justifies the expense or the experience at all.

Food and service was amazing from beginning to end, friendly up beat waiter made our experience weven more enjoyable.

We ordered the deluxe taste menu and absolutely loved every dish, even some we normally wouldn't choose, the Lamb and the Salmon where the stand outs but all our dishes where delicious.

We were booked in for a table of four at 8 pm which was already one hour later than we wanted to dine. We didn’t get seated until 8.30 as our table wasn’t ready. The wait staff were quite inexperienced. I guess the pandemic is to blame for that. We ordered the Deluxe tasting platter. The food was very poor and we soon realised we were paying for the top quality view, certainly not the top quality food. Won’t be going back.

To access the restaurant, you need to run the gauntlet of staff before you get on the lift. We had an OK table, which we later moved to a window when the room got quieter.
We had the set menu and a bottle of Cloudy Bay - but the food was rather odd. "Ceviche" was a few chunks of thick fish, and not like any other ceviche that I've had; it was worse. The main course was a nondescript fish. Dessert was meagre.
In total, a bit over NZ$300 for a meal that wasn't special.

Our visit to Sugar Club was good overall, but it could have been better. The timing of the last dishes was quite off, so we spent a lot of time twiddling our thumbs waiting for food. The server checked in with us regularly so it appeared to be a kitchen back-up problem rather than a wait staff issue, but whatever it was it would have been good to at least comp us a drink or something to acknowledge the matter. It didn't help that we did not have a window seat -- looking at the view might have provided some much needed distraction while we endlessly waited for our food, but we did not have that option. The food itself (once we got it) was good, but timing makes a big difference in one's restaurant experience, and for this level of a restaurant the long lags between servings were particularly disappointing.
