“Outstanding Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2014

We have recently read this restaurants great review in Ponsonby News so wanted to try them out.
On tuesday night they were booked out which was strange for us. We have been welcomed by the staff and seated near the Bar area. The Decor is outstanding, which I have never seen in any Indian restaurant in New Zealand (probably one of its own kind). The staff is so attentive with good knowledge about the Wine list and friendly. They made us so comfortable suggested few dishes from there Bar Menu.

Overall it was worth reading the review, worth trying it and worth having real Indian Restaurant in town. We will be regulars.

Love the service.

“Best curry we've had in New Zealand”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2014

The atmosphere and decor at the iVillage is probably the best that I’ve seen in an Indian restaurant. Plus the service is really good. We've been here 3 times now and other than one issue with the food it's all very tasty.

It may also have something to do with the start that the meal got off to. Their “gourmet” poppadoms can only be described as a shambles or even an insult to Indian cookery. They are the worst thing that I’ve ever seen or eaten in an Indian restaurant and can’t think why they are on the menu. Instead of the usual thin and crisp poppadoms that are full of flavour they were these deep fried bubbley things that reminded me a little bit of UK crisps called Quavers but without any flavour and more greasy. It was a real shame as we consider popadoms to be a quintessential part of our Indian restaurant dining experience.

The mains are really nice and the naans are good. They don't quite have the quality that you would find in a top quality UK Indian establishment but it's still very good.

It's now our "go to" Indian restaurant in Auckland.

“Best curry in town.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014 via mobile

Waiter was great, talked us through the wine list, let us try a few before we ordered, and customized a starter platter for us. Hand I chicken and Goan fish curry were both perfectly seasoned, hot without being silly, fragrant and spicy - bang on the money.

“Poor service, average food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014

We arrived around 10pm and asked if they were still open. The minute we ordered they were trying to get rid of us to close. Poor service, messed up orders, didn't provide water despite asking and generally bad attitude. If they wanted to close they should have said no rather than provide poor service and rush us out of the restaurant. Shame, as the restaurant looked nice. Disappointing experience.

“Authentic Indian food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2014 via mobile

The first thing you notice in this place is the amazing location at Victoria Park and then the great decor of the interior. Now to the food which was flavour country and according to our Indian dining companions was authentic in its taste. We certainly enjoyed it, the most surprising dish was the butter chicken which was great and which I normally I hate as too sweet
