“Very Poor, avoid”
Review of Frankie’s

Frankie’s
Ranked #1,312 of 2,383 Restaurants in Auckland Central
Price range: $10 - $58
Cuisines: Argentinean, European, German, New Zealand
Description: The roast and the argentines The roast is a rite of an evocative past. It is a promise of harmoniously uniting together friends and family. Roasting is not only the meat you eat, but where you eat: the occasion, the ceremony It is reminiscent of the patriarchal past of The Pampas, a food enriched with the rural and virile connotations. Normally it has been the men who prepare it with the attentive patience to do it. This is why for Argentines, it is the historical and cultural continuity, the roast is the origin, it is the myth and it is the belonging to its land. The smell of the fire wood, the smell of the meat that is grilled in the fields, in courtyards of the house of Argentine friends and family. The roast is simmered, so the expression of Who Knows How To Eat, Knows How To Wait is a tradition in the tables of our country.

This is the first time I've ever written a review, only because I have never needed to. Until now.

Me and my girlfriend had heard good things about Elliot Stables so we decided to try it out.

After finally deciding on a menu, we chose Frankies Wurstbude. The guy at the till took the order, but wasnt very clear or confident in what he was doing. I could understand if he was knew, but he seemed disinterested, and as if he couldnt be bothered (a staff member was on a computer on facebook).

After a 35 minute wait (it wasnt busy), I went up to the counter. I saw some food coming out that looked like ours. I asked the girl and she said it was for a different table number (after 5 mins of walking around she realised it was our food, and the wrong table number had been entered).

While the food was at the table I was still at the counter waiting for the drinks that we had ordered with the food & already paid for.

I began to advise that I hadnt received the drinks and showed him the receipt. He then screwed it up and threw it into the bin.
He then proceeded to ignored me and started to take an order from someone else.
The chef was kind enough to enquire what the problem was but advised he was unable to help.

After the staff member had finished taking the order, he once again asked me what the problem was! I finally managed to get the drinks, and he apologised a bit (not very convincing), and half heartedly offered a free drink. it didnt seem sincere or geniune so I declined.

Time for the food! As you would expect it was a bit cold by now.
The sausage was tasty but REALLY tiny (unlike the picture). The mash & sauce were excellent though.

Unfortunately the other meal that came out was not the one that was ordered. As we had other arrangements, and was pretty disgusted by now, we didnt bother saying anything.

Unless something has dramatically changed since I was there, avoid this place like the plague!

Went to Elliot Stables for catch up dinner with a couple of friends visiting from USA. Tried this as I had always wanted to try this one.

Service - Great service and very friendly.

Food - Chips was not crispy and sausages was a bit bland. It wasn't quite as crispy on the outside as it should be. Good portion though.

Value - Reasonable price and good value for money.

Atmosphere - Great place to hang out with friends.

Overall - Was a bit disappointed with the food but at least its a good place to hang out with friends.
