“Expensive and overrated”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

Living in Auckland for a long time and for the first time I actually managed to make it to the French market. Tidy, that was the only good impression. The coffee mobile shop outside was horrible, rude customer service, dirty coffee lid with hair on top, cashier handling money and put his hands which are full of chocolate all over our lids, did not bother to ask for our name but instantly assumed that I'm gay and wrote down gay as my name. The vegetable was ridiculous expensive, there were nothing much inside except a cheese shop that kinda interesting. The highlight was the crepe French stall, lovely staff, amazing crepe. We went there and got so annoyed, instead after about 30 mins we left for Avondale flea market, much better experience.

“Gourmet Market Delight”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

The food choices on offer are amazing and very difficult to decide upon. The locations is fantastic and it embraces a fine market experience. A definite place to visit in Auckland.

“Charming, delicious! Don't miss this market, especially if you like French food.”
Reviewed July 20, 2013 via mobile

Inside is an excellent French cafe, they make great coffee and serve delicious foods, like croque Monsieur. And their almond croissants- yum!! Outside an excellent farmers market of delicious prepared foods and fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, and all manner of delicious things. Highly recommended.

“A Gem hidden off the CBD”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

I've lived in Auckland for 12 years without knowing anything about La Cigale French Market. What a little gem for real "foodies and lovers of the market stall experience. French cuisine is prominent but Spanish and Italian is also available. We started the day with the most amazing Gruyer Cheese Toasty and delicious hot coffee before wandering the many stalls and examining the produce available.

Whether your love is authentic cheeses, meats, seasonal vegetables, baguettes and artisan bread or wines there is something for everyone. Local parking was quiet easy and close to the market which we left after a surprising couple of hours with a few french pastries to complete our little adventure.

A good way to spend a romantic morning getting a different breakfast experience that you only usually see on Food TV. Is now going to become a regular experience for my partner and I.
