“Beautiful service, exquisite food.”
Reviewed September 19, 2013 via mobile

What a great addition to the Auckland restaurant scene. Don't think this is pure Japanese given the name of the establishment. It melds the delicacy and refinement of Japanese style cooking with European style dishes. It is a hit.

The service was lovely, friendly and attentive without being intrusive.

We will certainly revisit.

“The best on the list!”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

The service was probably the best I have seen in Auckland. They are clearly passionate and proud of what they have to offer!
The food, just impossible to describe because it was almost too good to be true!

If you have one restaurant from the Cuisine Top #50 restaurants list to choose from... don't hesitate and choose KAZUYA.

“An evening to remember- exquiste food and service”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

Although named after the Japanese owner this is not a Japanese restaurant. Its fusion food with hints of french cooking, molecular gastromony and Japanese attention to detail in ingredient choice and freshness. We came with friends for a birthday celebration and had the 7 course seasonal menu with matching wines and sake. Each course was an adventure in flavours and textures. From the mouthful of soup in a jelly egg to petit four ball that just kept exploding in your mouth it was delightful. The food and the wines were presented and explained in detail but without fuss.
We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant if you are a lover of fine food. Its not cheap but was less than many other fine dining restaurants in Auckland for maybe better food.

“Is this the best restaurant in Auckland?”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

It certainly is in the best five without any doubt and it cost us only $20 more for a seven course degustation than it did for a mediocre three course meal in Cable Bay. And the wine list in Kazuya is the best I have seen in Auckland. We had a bottle of Neudorf pinot gris and a half-bottle (yes, a restaurant at last which does half bottles!) of a Morey St Denis.
The ambiance is black and white with the spotlights focused on the table which made for good ambiance and easy seeing. The waitresses all wore gloves, were polite and knowledgeable about the dishes. They were invisible but always at hand.
The seven course seasonal degustation is beyond description. The titles (see the website) hardly convey the subtleties of flavour yet the tastes were not exotic nor striving for the unusual or stupid, like, say, apple and beetroot. There were authentic and powerful. My wife and I disagreed on the best courses but I liked the seasonal salad (which my friends will never believe!) and the scallop and shrimp. Even the home made breads were fantastic. I am unable to transfer my iPhone photos to this article which is a shame.. Go there - now!

“Amazing meal”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

It's an intimate dining room with impeccable service and our expectations were high but it was even better than we'd hoped.
The food is so imaginative - French with an Asian twist, light and beautifully presented. We shall go again very soon.
