This gulf is so beautiful you can enjoy any corner of it and still feel like you have a little piece of paradise. enjoy a long walk or a spot of fishing. have a chat to one of your fellow strollers or just sit there contemplating the universe. Its a great place to be with people or just on your own. make a point of going on the weekend and you will be surprised how many people actually go there so really easy to meet friends or make new friends

We don't live in Auckland but own a launch and spend a lot of time in the Hauraki Golf. We has a family have been visiting for over twenty years. We never tire of this area. We spend time fishing, exploring, and swimming. We love it!!!

Most recommended is to take the ferry to one of the islands in the gulf. In this way you can fully enjoy the water, the birdlife and the scenery. With the ever changing conditions every minute is as beautiful as the last. with a bit of luck you can sea dolphins or some rare birdspecies. The islands in the gulf are really worth a stop. The best choice is Tiri-tiri Matangi island, which is a birdsanctuary. Take care when you go out swimming, ailing or boating. The waters are dangerous because of the windnd the current.
