A lot of city harbours are quite defined, but the Hauraki Gulf is a large area that leads to Auckland, but within the Hauraki Gulf are there are many Islands that you can either visit or just pass by if you are boating or just looking from many of the points of the greater Auckland City. Auckland is sometimes known as the City of the Sails because the population has a very high population of boat ownership especially yachts. So if you are sightseeing on water or land, boating in its many different forms, or out fishing this is a great place.

This is the best playground around for all watercraft. The scenery is amazing and a must stop off as some of the Islands have vineyards.

We love our boating and we spend most of the summer season on our yacht exploring and enjoying the Hauraki Gulf - there is so much to do and so much to enjoy, no need to head off to Bay of Islands when its all here on our doorstep. Fishing, swimming and all the cafe's to explore.
Come winter, nothing better than to jump on the ferry to Waiheke for the day of if you can afford a full weekend away head over to the barrier.
