Did the wine on waiheke tour and visited 3 stunning wineries. Was a bit rushed and quite expensive for just 3 hours as ferry ride was included in time- but very enjoyable

We went out on a yacht, sailed round Rangitoto, stopped at Rocky Bay and sailed back - it really is a beautiful expanse of water and we are very lucky to be able to use it.

The city can best be seen from the water, since it was built around the harbour by both the Maori and the European settlers. There are lots of tours to choose from. A day to Tiritiri Island, an open bird sanctuary and breeding site for endangered birds is certainly worth a day trip. But if that is too energetic, just take one of the tours. Waiheke Island is a good destination, or the Mansion House on Kawau Island. There is plenty to choose from.

I too could write a book. I love all the Islands all different all beautiful. The wildlife in it's natural habitat, white sandy beaches, peace and quiet and so close to Auckland. Good DOC camping grounds.

The Hauraki Gulf is the best thing about Auckland on a sunny day.
We caught a ferry out to Waiheke Island and spent a day walking past beaches, vineyards, farms, quaint little villages and spectacular views. Paradise!
Don't miss it!
