We've just spent last Saturday night at DeBrett's; our first visit but certainly not our last. I can't find anything to whinge about to be honest as our whole speedy visit was lovely. From being shown to our room by the lovely lady on reception, to the room itself, to the handwritten 'happy anniversary' card waiting for us, to the cosy drawing room, to the delish bar snacks, to the great location, everything was incredibly well done. We stayed in a Boutique room looking out onto the street... they're not huge but ample for the 2 of us. We had a gorgeous sitting area, beautiful bathroom and the most comfortable bed ever (am buying one of the goose down mattress toppers they use... heavenly :o)
I'm a huge fan of mid century design and was blown away by the decor; apparently the owner collected all her treasures for the hotel over a period of 8 years and her passion for it is evident in every tiny detail. This place could really teach other accommodation providers a thing or two, I don't mean that everyone should try to emulate the decor as that requires a real knack but I loved the fact that the staff were really genuine; totally customer service orientated without being false or smarmy. This place is stunning but it's somewhere where you can totally relax and not feel like you've got to polish off your pearls and tiara. I loved the different areas where you could eat.. we had bar snacks in House Bar before heading to a show. Would have loved to have had enough time for a full meal in Kitchen... just had the continental brekkie in the morning before zooming to the airport but it was lovely... again, great service, attentive but not 'in your face', which I hate.
Anyway, DeBrett's is top notch but I would say if you're a fan of generic, soul-less modern decor where everything matches, then this might be wasted on you.... as for me, I'll be back :o)

Room Tip: I requested a room facing to the outside rather than over the internal atrium purely based on other...

When we're overseas this is the kind of stylish, personable boutique hotel we look for. We were gifted 3 nights by a friend when we were up in Auckland and stayed for five. Whichever way you look at it DeBretts does it superbly.
There is something about a place that is hitting it's straps....the staff 'get' it, the service, food and drinks are superb and the hotel just feels good.
If friends come from overseas they can't get a better intro into Auckland life than by having a catch up couple of days at De Bretts. Step out the door and you are into the vibrant fashion and dining area of downtown with the Viaduct a short stroll away.

Centrally located hotel with helpful staff and beautiful rooms with exciting and unique decor. Very nice beds. Cosy with a complimentary welcome drink in the library with other guests, ordinary breakfast.

Stayed here for just one night before heading to the South Island as part of our honeymoon. Everything about the hotel was both comfortable as well as fun. Colorful decorations and helpful staff brightened our stay despite the cold / rainy weather. Location is great as well. Good breakfast.

It is a very well located hotel in downtown in a great neighbourhood with everything walking distance. Great staff, very helpful and friendly. The room we got was amazing with an awesome bath, very clean and spacious. The furniture of the hotel is just so authentic from the 50s. You can also rent your DVDs for free. The only thing that they can improve is the breakfast. It has not a lot of variety.

Room Tip: They are all good.

Recently stayed here and I would highly recommend to others on business or pleasure. From the moment I got there the staff made my colleague and I feel nothing but welcome! Not forced either it was just genuine personable service. My room was street facing but was incredibly quiet and ridiculously comfortable - I had a better night sleep than at home! Great bar and restaurant on site as well! There is only one place for me in Auckland now and I am looking forward to going back next time! Well done Hotel DeBrett!
