We took a City Highlights half day tour and were fortunate to have a drop off for three quarters of an hour. Not a lot of time however enough to have a quick look and sample some local store delights.
Well recommended!

One of the nicest 'village' areas in Auckland. If you are going from Beach Road, Lower Parnell, it can be a bit of a steep walk, uphill, but you can catch an Inner Link (green bus), and do it that way. An abundance of eating places, shops, all the way up the hill. Down hill going home :)
Lovely resturants... stylish shops ... a church at every 500 yards ...
beautiful trees ... very pretty
Visited here to get away from the bigger chain stores and cheap souvenir shops in Auckland central.
It's a short bus ride to a small but lovely area with some nice shops and galleries to browse through.
Managed to get some souvenirs genuinely made in NZ, as opposed to some of the dubious ones in the city.
Definitely worth the trip
We spent some time walking around after our visit to the War Museum and the Botanical Gardens. You will find lovely shops and restaurants here.
Went shopping around the village and it was just like being in an english country town 50 years ago (and, yes, unfortunatly, I can remember that far back !!). You need to look up all the side lanes to get a full feel of the offering but it was so nice to get away from the ubiquitous city high street shopping. Hope it does not loose that appeal.
