Love the ever changing displays, congratulations to the hardworking gardeners and grounds keepers. Love feeding the ducks and geese too.

“The Winter Garden”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

The winter garden is a great place to go - even if it a rainy day. There are 4 statues, 1 for each season, a fish pond, and a fernery. Seats are in the fernery, so you can have a quiet read in a peaceful setting.

“Lovely park, try Lovers Walk”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

Auckland Domain is a lovely and varied park containing the imposing Auckland War Memorial Museum, the Winter Gardens (cool and hot greenhouses), and formal and informal gardens. On the city side (and not mentioned in the guides we had) are shady paths through natural rain forest, including the so-called Lovers Walk, complete with babbling stream and bird-song.

“Excellent place to kick back and relax with nature around you”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

For the most part, most people who come to the Domain basically want to make use of the large grounds for either cricket, soccer, and rugby. You will find most people playing social cricket and soccer during the summer season, and in the winter times rugby posts are set up for the people who want to use it to play rugby. You also have lots of runners going around the domain for their exercise in all times of the day.

One particular spot I am quite fond of in the domain is the area near Grafton Mews (road name) during the spring weather as there are Cherry Blossoms blooming around and it makes a super great spot for picnics. Just remember to come on around during early-mid September as this is the peak season for the flowers to bloom.

Other things to do in this area is of course visit the museum at the top of the hill, enjoy the views of Auckland from the top, laze around on the grass, if you are also lucky you can attend a free event like music in the park on weekends and just chill with the locals.

For those that are keen on the living creatures in the domain, I find the Eastern Rosella to be the main attraction of this park. I've seen them flying around in different parts of the domain, in particular during late spring, early summer. They are simply gorgeous birds to look at. Otherwise you can head out to the pond near the Wintergarden Pavilion, and feed the ducks. Even just walking around some of the tree concentrated areas you can hear the local birds singing their birdsongs.

There are also some walks into a small bush land surrounded by trees and some small flowing rivers, really makes you wonder how did all this exist in this domain! simply mind blowing. You will find this walking path call lovers lane.

Great place to stop by if you have the chance.
