Thanks for your review. We thought it a bit harsh but the fact that you will likely stay again is encouraging. We are rated #1 on Tripadvisor in the "Best Value - Central Auckland Hotels " category. Internet is in fact free if you book directly with us.

This hotel was what you would expect for how cheap it is. Compared to other hotels of around the same price range, I would definitely do this one again. We stayed one night and were happy with the room. Free parking was a definite bonus especially in the heart of Queen Street. Great location, accessible, recommended if you're on a budget!

Room Tip: Get the ensuite room - it's cheap and worth it!

Thanks for your positive review. It's pleasing to hear you think it's such good value and would stay again. We agree with your tip that the ensuite rooms are the way to go and we never have any complaints about free parking! Especially in the centre of the city.

We stayed at the hotel as the first 2 nights of a driving holiday so finding a hotel that had free parking was high on our list. The Kiwi International was great for this. There are limited spots but we didn't have any trouble in getting one mid-week. The hotel is located on Queen St pretty much the main street. There is a bus that can run you up and down it for around 50c. The hotel is tucked away from the road so a little difficult to spot at first. This helps in keeping it quiet though although there was a bit of noise from some of the clubs on the nearby "K" road. The room itself was on the smallish side but was all we needed. Two single beds and an ensuite. Only thing we could really fault was the door to ensuite didn't latch so used to swing open but no big deal. Check-in and reception staff were very helpful and friendly here. Would highly recommend especially if you have a car.

Thank you for your informative review which I 'm sure other travellers will find helpful. Yes - the free carparking is a real bonus. Due to limited spaces we can't guarantee a park but it's generally only on occassional busy weekends or concert nights that some guests might miss out. Thanks for mentioning the reception staff - they appreciate that. Hopefully we'll see you again sometime.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights during the Triathlon World Championships. I found the hotel very affordable and the staff most courteous, helpful and attentive. I will be going back to Auckland in April 2013 and will definitely staying at Kiwi International Hotel. I read before going that the hotel had been recently refurbished and this was clearly obvious, the rooms and en-suites are spotless and are a credit to all at the hotel.
Many thanks.
Jim.

Room Tip: Pays to book early as it appears hotel is very popular.

Thank you for your positive review. "friendly & affordable in the heart of the Auckland City" is our catch phrase so we're glad to have lived up to it. We look forward to hosting you again on your return trip to Auckland.

I've been in New Zealand for three weeks now, flying between Auckland and Wellington, on a job hunting trip (sightseeing and meeting other travellers having a low to negligible priority).

Quite honestly I can say Kiwi International is its own league in terms of value, if you really want to put this to the test, get a single room at a backpackers and see if you get the same quality for the same price, you won't (in my experience). I stayed in an economy single at Kiwi International, in fact I've just gotten back to Auckland and am staying in one now.

I even paid more for a single room at some of the backpackers I stayed in, and there is no towel, no little soap, no wash basin. So in a nutshell, if you don't know how long you'll be travelling, and so need to conserve funds and are not out for partying, I highly recommend this hotel, give the backpacker single rooms a skip.

Room Tip: In my limited experience the second floor economy rooms are slightly bigger (speak under correction...

Thanks for the great review. You've pertty much said it all. While most of our rooms are ensuite the single Economy Rooms like this traveller stayed in are ideal if the budget is tight. Shortly we intend to extend tea & coffee making facilites to these rooms also. And of course for all guests who book directly with us we provide free interenet. (Direct booking means by phone, via our own website, email or simply walking in off the street.)

This hotel is located close to all the major attractions, it's clean and overall ok, but it's a bit old. If you have a car, this is one of the few hotels in the center that offers free parking. We stayed in a double room with private bathroom and it was a decent room. There's cental heating, and if it's not on, you can ask for a portable one at the reception.

Thank you for your positive review. Yes we are an older preoperty but we've renovated it extensively. If we were new we'd be twice the price! We're glad you liked it - please come again.

Helpful staff and great service. I stayed in an en suite room which was very comfortable and clean. Coming from a quiet rural area it was exciting to experience the sights and sounds of Auckland. The Kiwi International is centrally located and an easy walk to shops and restaurants. I would recommend this Hotel to my friends.
