Kiwi International Hotel

This hotel is located close to all the major attractions, it's clean and overall ok, but it's a bit old. If you have a car, this is one of the few hotels in the center that offers free parking. We stayed in a double room with private bathroom and it was a decent room. There's cental heating, and if it's not on, you can ask for a portable one at the reception.

Thank you for your positive review. Yes we are an older preoperty but we've renovated it extensively. If we were new we'd be twice the price! We're glad you liked it - please come again.

Helpful staff and great service. I stayed in an en suite room which was very comfortable and clean. Coming from a quiet rural area it was exciting to experience the sights and sounds of Auckland. The Kiwi International is centrally located and an easy walk to shops and restaurants. I would recommend this Hotel to my friends.

I have stayed here many times over the past 15 years, with my most recent visit in mid 2012. I have got to mention that with the 2011 upgrades done to the Hotel, have made it an even better place to stay. It has always been great value for money, taking into account the free parking (as long as space is available - first come first serve basis) and that it is very central, but with the upgrades, it has become even more comfortable. The rooms have been given a great facelift and offers hotel standard accommodation at "almost" budget accommodation rates. What I like most is the fact that the place offers accommodation from private rooms with shared facilities to en-suite with TV, coffee/tea etc.). So it's a good place, whatever the travel budget! As a tip: when traveling by car, ask at reception in advance (when it will next get really busy) and try to be back (after a days outing) between 3pm and 5pm after that you may find the free car park full and have to part at a pay garage offsite and for between NZ$10 to NZ$15 for overnight secure parking.

Room Tip: Ask if a room with view to the park is available... nice view and very quite.

Thank you for writing this comprehensive review. We're glad you like the extensive work we've done on the property. I'm sure other travellers will find your parking advice useful and I like your 'room tip'. I too think the park view rooms are great with the afternoon sun and quiet - especially given the central location.

Small rooms, excellent beds....but not much room for anything else. Helpful staff, hot water good shower. Everything you really need and great value for money. We took note of other reviewers and ate elsewhere. Close to bus stop to city, would stay here again

Thank you for your positive review. We're pleased that our rooms - while they are small - met your needs well and represented good value. Try the restaurant next time. We offer free espresso coffee with our breakfasts and our evening dinner specials are excellent value.

Firstly, don't kid yourself that this is luxury accommodation by any means. The rooms are really simple, we didn't even have a tv and there's a shared bathroom on each floor. Some rooms are en suite and there are contained units available but we only needed a bed.

The rooms were incredibly clean and the shared bathroom was tidy and never grubby. Even if it was cold.
The best thing about the place was the service. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Anything you need, they can help you.
The restaurant sofas are also comfortable as you like. We didn't eat there but it smelt nice.

Overall, it was a good place to start our adventure in Auckland. Very well situated in central queens street and close to everything.

I stayed here on two different occasions. The rooms were inexpensive, but I got what I paid for; small room not a lot of room to maneuver. The most impressive bit was the lobby. Great commons area with a pool table and bar. The beer was a bit pricey but what hotel bar isn't? The location is great, I was able to walk from the train station and Sky City Tower. Plenty of restaurants were within walking distance. Not a bad deal.

Thank you for your review. Yes - the room style this guest stayed in is small however they are the best value hotel room for a single person in Auckland City and thus are consistently popular. The reviewer is from the US where hotel rooms (except New York!) are generally larger than in New Zealand. The main thing is that he got value - "Not a bad deal" - to quote the reviewer directly.

I recently stayed at this hotel while i was in Auckland visiting an old friend. The rooms were a suitable size and very clean, while i didn't eat at the restaurant the bar and surrounding area looked welcome. The location and service is by far the best asset of this hotel, being able to walk to the waterfront and main routes made it way easier getting to places to meet people. The receptionist with the braces was particularly helpful in steering me in the right direction - thanks. Would definitely stay here again!
