“Good place but lot of beggars”
Reviewed March 25, 2014

I lived on queen street for 3 months the place is really vibrant and lively the only thing i did not like is there are beggars every 100 meters and they are rude many times if you go in around late evenings they can really abuse you , most of them are capable of doing jobs or any kind of work but they choose to beg and get the easy money and its funny as the council allows them to do this , if they were old with any disability i would have symphaty with them but with normal people who can really go out there and work they just choose to beg and they are everywhere on queen street asking for spare change...just hate taking a walk down queen street in the evenings just because of them.

“Avoid if possible”
Reviewed February 24, 2014

As an expat speaking - Queen St is not the main shopping area, although I'd agree it's probably the main street in the central city. It's long been a horrid, backwater, full of tacky souvenir shops, dreadful cafes (I generalise), banks, and general stores full of tat. Friends living here are embarrased of it and wouldn't dream of going there unless it's to get to somewhere else. I can't imagine why a tourist would want to come here.

“Only for tourists”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

Auckland residents don't shop in town.
In fact it's really only city office workers and tourists that frequent Queen Street. This is a shame because if they could get rid of the tacky tourist shops, pushy camera-store salespeople, 'in your face' beggars, lousy Wi-Fi coverage and premium prices Queen Street would be a lovely thoroughfare.

“A must for visitors to Auckland”
Reviewed February 2, 2014

If you have a day 'up your sleeve', leave your car at your hotel/motel, and take a bus or train to down-town Auckland. Here you can start your walk up Auckland's Queen Street, and spend all day shopping! There is an extensive variety of shops on Queen St, as well as the numerous 'side streets' along the way! You won't get hungry, or go thirsty whilst you shop, as there are plenty of cafes, fast food restaurants, family entertainment venues, and bars, to keep the family going, especially on a hot summer's day! It will take a good day to walk both sides of Queen St, you choose how long you want, but a must for any-one visiting Auckland.

“Main street in Auckland Central with shops, restaurants and bars .......”
Reviewed January 28, 2014

Queen Street is the main street in Auckland Central for shoppers, food lovers and bars visitors as all of these are available along this street. We were told that Friday and week end nights were the most crowded, and therefore, please be alerted for drunken people when visited this area during Friday and week end nights .......
