Owner description: This lovely urban park offers an escape from the city hustle and bustle with oak tree-lined roads, winding paths and grazing sheep and cattle.

Make sure you also drive to the top where there is a monument and expansive views over Auckland. There is also an old house halfway up, which was the house of the original owner of the land before he gifted it to the city of Auckland. His house is now an attraction with information and displays inside. It is located near a cafe.

Auckland is very lucky that Cornwall Park was gifted to the people of Auckland so many years ago. It is the ideal place to go for a run, walk or just relax and people watch. It is great to see that it is really enjoyed by hundreds - especially in the weekends. There are so many little areas scattered around the park like the band rotunda area, huge big flat grass area that seems to be a particular favourite for groups and family picnics. I can not rate this park highly enough. I haven;t even mentioned the cattle and sheep etc. The children's playground by the conservatory is well used every day and the little train is loved by small and big kids as the big kids get to push the train around while the little kids have a ride. Some supervision is needed though. All in all a great place to visit

What a fantastic place to run. You can vary how far you want to go so its your choice, be it on grass or the footpath. They say some cars have been broken into but I have never had the bad experience. The car parks are very public and there are always people around. It is well used but big enough to never really feel busy.

Cornwall Park and its sister park One Tree Hill Domain are incredible assets to Auckland, with lush green spaces and family activities throughout. For city kids, seeing the free ranging cows and sheep must be amazing. But, the children's play area on the Manukau Rd side of the park has a train that is pushed by older kids for the Littlies to ride on, which we witnessed "running over" a wee girl who was not quick enough to get out of the way, injuring her quite badly. Would not allow our 4 year old near it unattended.

Auckland's version of Hampstead Heath in a way - aka One Tree Hill (so called because it had a lone pine tree on the summit for many years), Cornwall Park is a haven ideal for a walk around or a picnic. The tearooms are also a nice venue for a lazy lunch although you should try and book first lest you be turned away at the door. Sheep and cows are allowed graze around the grounds - there is a shepherd and farm attendants employed to look after / watch out for them so they aren't wild.
