“Can be hard to find but DIY and give it a go”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

We had a brilliant walk across from the Sky Towere area, thr the University area, up to Mt Eden, over to One Tree Hill the D omain, and down to the coast road. Bus back to town. Its a great way to see the area and all the interesting bits of Auckland including the lovely old villas, the Domain and the volcanic craters. But, we read about it in our guide books and it took 3 tourist offices to get a map and directions. The i-site staff had not even heard of it!

“Coast to coast walk is lovely”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

We did the coast to coast walk yesterday and except for the occasional turns that we missed it was great! You get a really good feel of the city and the various old volcano hills with beautiful views. The walk is 4-5 hours and can be hard for people that are not well trained (16 km). But it is so much worth it!

“Worth the effort”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

My friend and I did this walk and took about 4 hours, with a stop for lunch. Good overview of the city with a couple of climbs to top of old volcanos. Otherwise the walk was pretty easy through mostly parks. Recommended if you like walking.

“Good way to explore Auckland”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

The 16km walk between the Tasman sea and the Pacific gives you a good feel of the city. Get the train from Britomart to Onehunga and then walk back following the signs. Take a map of the route too though as the signs sometimes seem to disappear. The start of the walk is unimpressive but it then takes you up One Tree Hill and Mount Eden, both of which have good panoramic views. You then head down to Auckland city centre. It is strenuous in parts. There is a good cafe/visitors centre in Cornwall Park, where you can fill up water bottles and they even provide sun cream.
