The best attraction to know basically everything about New Zealand and its culture. A donation of 10 $ is requested to visitors. Collections are very well organised. Guided tours available. Recommended for children.

great display of indigenous culture.
The war museum was very interesting. The exhibition included a large display of artefacts from WW1 and WW2
highly recommended.

What a riveting experience to explore this wonderful Museum. We were particularly interested in the Maori Cultural Exhibit which showcased the history of these noble people. Also of interest was the War time exhibits. Well worth a visit.

We come to the museum regularly with our 7-year-old. He loves pretty much most exhibits, Pasifika section and the old New Zealand section with the Maori section on level one - he loves the marae (meeting house) and the carvings. Level 2 is the natural history and volcanoes and oceans, and the exhibits and the kids section with the activities are well-loved by him (and us). Level three is another favourite with a great section on the Maori land wars, WW1 and WW2, with a Japanese Zero and a Spitfire rounding things off. We think the third level is great as it allows time for reflection on the many wars around the world and the horrors and courage it can bring. They also have had some great exhibitions too, so all-in-all VERY worth a visit.

Very informative and organized. Also offering free entry, you could choose to donate some money to the museum upon getting the tickets.

The Maori's cultural tour was also very informative.

I definitely recommend it as a must see in Auckland .
