“Great place to stay”

I travel often for work. U really do love this hotel. Nice kodern clean rooms will all the extras you could want. Dvd player. Decent sized tvs. Balcony etc.. the only hotwl in a long time with a decent ironing board and iron. Staff are polite and efficient. Great location for a walk along the waterfront or a meal at the many restaurants. Accor got this one right. Ive had one issue in the past and the Hotel Manager was outstanding in her service.

We stayed in a spacious and immaculate apartment with stunning harbour view which was very convenient for Viaduct shopping and restaurants. Excellent laundry facilities in room. Within easy walking distance of Queen Street - the main commercial thoroughfare in Auckland. Pleasant, helpful staff at reception desk. Would have liked free wifi in room although we did get limited wifi in reception area.

Room Tip: Worth paying extra for sea view

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights while visiting downtown Auckland. The location of this hotel absolutely fantastic as it is less then a five minute walk from the piers where you can take a ferry to many different locations and islands around Auckland. There is also a Subway and convenience store along the waterfront near the ferry terminals which is very convenient for quick snacks and consistent meals. The rooms of the Sebel are very nice however are slightly dated and "broke in". You can tell that they probably haven't renovated for at least 15-20 years however the rooms were in fine shape and were always very clean. We had a deluxe room with a marina view balcony which we received as a free upgrade! It was fantastic as we loved sitting out on our balcony each morning and watching the sailboats and people come and go.

Our room was HUGE and had a dining room table, living room with tv, stereo for listening to music, and a DVD player. There also was a separate office room with a door that could be closed so that you could work without disturbing anyone who may be sleeping. The bedroom is in a separate room from the rest of the suite with a door that can be closed so that you again can sleep in piece if your spouse wants to stay up to watch tv, etc. The bedroom has it's own separate balcony and it's own tv as well. And the bathroom has both a bath tub and a stand up shower with a heated towel rack as well! The room does use 220 volt so if you'll want to bring a converter if you're from Canada or the United States. But what we appreciated the most was the full kitchen! There is a stove, microwave, DISHWASHER, sink, fridge, and even a washer and dryer! It was great as we could buy ingredients from the mall downtown and could cook our own meals, a great way to help save money and eat healthier! Also they have dishes and cutlery available in your room as well which was fantastic!

The Sebel is also only about a 10 minute walk from a huge shopping mall and about 15 minutes from and even larger cinema complex and arcade. Also the legendary Queen Street is only about a five minute walk from The Sebel and there is more shopping along that street then you could possibly see in one day. Also the Sebel is only about 10 minutes away from the amazing Sky City Tower, the tallest man made structure in the southern hemisphere!

But by far the most convenient part of The Sebel was the fact that any tours you wish to go on which require you to travel by bus to get there will pick you up right from the Sebel lobby. That was great as people drive on the opposite side of the road then we do back home so we did NOT want to drive anywhere, lol! So having tour operators being able to pick us up right at our hotel was a must and they were always on time.

The only disappointment we had with the hotel was they do not have Wi-Fi for their rooms. They have an Ethernet cable that you can hook up to laptops and the internet is free from your room, but in todays day and age where most people use tablets and cellphones to connect to the internet this was not helpful at all. They do have ONE computer downstairs in the lobby which you can use to search the internet but they charge you per hour to use. However I can't imagine it would be that difficult for them to get Wi-Fi Access to their entire hotel so hopefully this is something they consider doing in the near future. That being said the hotel staff in the lobby were always extremely helpful and very professional. Any long distance or even local calls you make from your room will cost you money and will be charged to your room however whenever I had to make some local calls to confirm tour bookings, etc., I simply asked the front desk staff if I could make a local call from their front desk phone and they were always more then happy to let me do so.

All in all we were more then pleased with our stay at the Sebel and bang for your buck you will not find a better hotel with as perfect a location as the Sebel.

Stayed 4 days and really enjoyed it. Accommodation very good, rooms spacious and having the amenities I.e washing machine etc was great. Had a lovely view of the harbour from our room which was a real bonus. The location of this hotel was brilliant. Exiting from the rear brought you directly onto the harbour where there were lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance plus a great aquarium. Would certainly stay there again if we were in the area and highly recommend it.

Turned up to be told they were over booked and didn't have a room for us, put us in a far inferior hotel, miles away from the area that we needed to be in, provided taxi chits to a taxi company that we couldn't get hold of, won't book there again

Great location for a couple of nights inAuckland - price reflects this so be prepared to pay 5 star prices for 4star. Rooms comfortable, good beds. Surprised that on floor 1, no real noise from street. Very helpful staff.
