“Top rate Hotel with super location.”
Reviewed February 20, 2008

Just had a three night post cruise stay at Sebel suites, it turned out to be a great choice.
The hotel is within easy level walking distance of the cruise terminal, the pier is quite long, however the taxi queue as we disembarked was massive with a 1.5 to 2 hour wait, so the ability to walk to the hotel was a big bonus.
The hotel overlooks the main marina where there is a huge choice of restaurants, it can be very noisy in the evening and the marina view rooms could be affected.
Our room was a city view suite on the top floor, 601 a one bedroom suite with sitting area and fully fitted kitchen, including a micowave and stacked washer and drier and tea and coffee making facilities; it did have a reasonable city view but as the room numbers increase the view is mainly over a 3 level car park. It was very well furnished, two large LCD TV's and a very comfortable Queen bed, a large bathroom with tub and seperate shower which seemed palatial after our bijou cruise ship bathroom; and all well maintained and clean. The desk staff were also very accomodating, even finding us some bathroom scales to help us check our luggage weights and minimise any likely excess.
It would certainly be my number one choice if ever we are back in Auckland.

We loved the facilities and location of this hotel. We stayed in a suite with separate kitchen and living room and a balcony with a great view over the harbour. The bedroom was a good size with plenty of wardrobe space and another great view. It was really useful having a washing machine and tumble dryer as we had been travelling for several weeks and had plenty of dirty clothes by the time we arrived in Auckland. As adv ised in other reviews the hotel is located on the harbour above the bars and restaurants and this was the only downside for us - very handy for a good meal or a drink but sooooooooo noisy at night when you want to sleep and there was no way to keep the noise out. Even with all the windows and doors shut tight the noise penetrated. Unfortunately we stayed there on a Friday & Saturday night which are probably the worst 2 nights of the week to stay there. We had dinner in one of the restaurants and breakfast in 2 of the others and the food was really good but we wouldn't stay at the Sebel Suites again because of the noise. Also steer clear of El Limon on the quayside near the Hilton - we had the worst meal of our trip there. They sell themselve as a tapas restaurant but from our experiences of regular travel to Spain there is no comparison with the real thing!

After flying for 12 hours and arriving at the Sebel at 7AM, you can imagine our delight at not only getting a room at that hour, but an up-grade as well. Our 1 bedroom suite was compact but nicely furnished with everything we needed, including a full kitchen and a washer/dryer. The location on the harbor is great for eating, drinking and sightseeing with the main shopping area just a couple of blocks away. The people at the front desk were always helpful.
Would definitely stay here again.

It was a pleasant surprise to see our suite at the Sebel Suites. It was spacious and well furnished with an exquisite view of the harbor. We had use of the ulta-modern kitchen and a stacked washer and dryer.

On a Saturday night, the scene downstairs at the harborside restaurants and bars was very lively. But with the doors to the balcony closed, things were blissfully silent in our suite.

I should also mention that the bathroom came with a large tub and separate shower and was super-immaculate.

There is a minimal lobby and parking is available on a first-come, first served basis under the hotel.

On Sunday morning we were amazed to see a huge swimming race occuring in the harbor ourside our room. This event and seeing the winded swimmers emerge from the water, only added to the fun.

This is a very pleasant and liveable place to stay. Our only regret was that we were there for only one night.

We had a 2 night stopover here on the way to Cook islands. Fantastic hotel. Walking distance to everywhere, very well appointed suites, comfortable beds. The Marina View Deluxe Suites have great views of Viaduct Harbour. From reading previous reviews i was worried about the noise levels at weekends and so requested a suite on a high floor. Only on the balcony was it noisy on Friday night. Once doors were closed, blinds pulled down and curtains drawen, i could not hear anything. Kitchenette is well appointed, though we only used it for making drinks.

Staff were very helpfull, although we did not really need much assistance while we were there.

Mecca restaurant underneath the hotel, on the harbourside does a good breakfast and this can be added to your Sebel bill.

Overall, highly recommend, great value, perfect location for sightseeing, very nice suites and lobby, attentive staff. It may however be quite loud on the lower floors at weekends due to the bars and restaurants underneath the hotel. Request high floor and you should be OK.

This hotel is well situated, above the bars and restaurants in Viaduct Harbour. My suite was well equipped and a reasonably good size, although the view ('city view') was disappointing- overlooking a car park. There were arrangements to use the tepid water baths opposite the hotel. I was disappointed to be next to the service lift (room 118) which kept me awake at night- why do hotels do this when they are not full? There was also no possibility of extending my check out time to make allowance for my late night flight back to the UK- even though I offered to pay for an extension. I imagine that this was because the rate I had paid through the Mirvac site was not high enough to warrant an extension.

I booked online through the hotel website. The website described 'City views' but on arrival I was given a room with a view of a car park.
After complaining to staff at reception, they relocated me to another room with some views of the city. The bathroom could do with an upgrade, although the kitchenette and laundry facilities in the room were handy.
The location of the hotel wasn't very central with not many cafes/restaurants around; about a 5-10 minute walk into city center.
Not the best value for money in my opinion. The reason why I considered booking a Mirvac hotel was because I had a Mirvac customer exclusive card which supposedly entitled me to exclusive rates and discounts, however I was disappointed to hear they didn't accept the Mirvac card and advised me I was already getting the best online rate. I don't understand why Mirvac would even bother sending out these so called exclusive cards to their customers when clearly they refuse to accept them at Mirvac hotels. I am a frequent leisure traveler and this was my first and only booking at a Mirvac hotel.
