Owner description: Sea Life Kelly Tarlton’s is New Zealand’s most famous aquarium! It is home to New Zealand's only sub-Antarctic penguins and offers a myriad of opportunities to get up close and personal with incredible marine life from the Pacific and Southern oceans. For a truly incredible experience, take the plunge on an Animal Adventure jump into the shark tank and go snorkeling with 14 massive sharks or jump on the ice and get up close and personal with the King and Gentoo penguins!

Parking is horrid. There is a free shuttle from downtown, but parking around there isn't that easy either, and it definitely isn't inexpensive. The admission prices for this activity are ridiculously high. Exhibits are underwhelming. Might be more enjoyable for families with young children, but overall I'd say it's a waste of money and time.

This place is absolutely fine for a 1h visit, but if you're only in Auckland for a preciously small amount if time, see the more unique sights and visit a Sea Life Centre elsewhere, another time.

We took our 7 year old grand daughter and the day was made worthwhile to see the look of wonder as she viewed the sights of this magical place. Her highlight , the sharks.
The penguins enclosures are large with many penguins to see and they are so close it is an interactive experience. The tunnel is awesome with the sharks and rays really close,
The cafe is in an unusual setting being half underwater. There is good seating and the usual expensive cafe food. The only grouch we had were the unattended very noisy children who thought screaming was appropriate in this museum. If there are no caregivers nearby surely the staff should step in.
All in all this is a worthwhile visit and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
Note, booking on line is worthwhile for the savings.

A nice place to see and visit, specially in Summer Weekends. Nicely re-developed and new looks is more attractive. See the Antartic penguins or Sharks and many Sea life Species. I took my 2 Years old today and she enjoyed a lot. A must visit place while you are in Auckland and you can start in afternoon and end up with nice dinner at Mission Bay.

Kids loved the penguins and enjoyed stamping their quiz books on the way around. Views to the ocean from the starfish/stingray/cafe area was pretty cool.

Major highlight of experience was actually the free "sharky bus". Kids still talking about. We struggled to find the city pick up point (google maps phone app directed us to a different meeting point) so ended up taking public transport out there rather than waiting an hour to catch the next bus, caught their bus on way back.
