“Sadly, Not as Good as it Once Was”

I used to recommend this place to everybody. But NOT now, especially not for the money one has to pay to get in. Yes, you see fish up close, but there are not as many as there used to be. Seeing the penguins is great, but since their enclosure was closed in with glass windows, the windows fog up, hindering your view. There is also Maori paraphernalia under the water and elsewhere which is totally unnecessary. You go to the museum or a marae if you want to see things Maori. As one Canadian friend who has been there said "It is tacky" - his words, not mine. Last time I was there, I think the price was $37 to get in. Far too expensive. Make the entrance fee $20, it would much better value, and remove the Maori paraphernalia. The Auckland Zoo is much better, and better value for money.

A fabulous present from my wife and something the whole family came along to watch. Great experience to be on the inside looking out for once, the kids loved it and it w really cool.
I now know how the fish feel and I got to wave to everyone looking in.

“Kelly Tarlton's Sea Life Aquarium”

We took visitors here today having not been there in a very long time. Although it was fairly pricey we felt it was great value for money as there were lots of different medias involved in viewing and interacting with the attraction. You can stay there as long as you like and go over the areas as many times as you like. It was attractive and informative. A bonus is that you can do birthday parties there as well. This tourist attraction could be missed if you were just driving around the area as it is fairly well hidden but it is well worth going to.

“Great day out.”

We visted New Zealand on holiday and were told about Kelly Tarton's and we were not disappointed.
The children loved it with loads to occupy them while we looked more at the details of the extensive variety of fish, penguins and information.
They even had the oldest known Ray in an aquarium which the children could help feed with the help of one of the staff.
There is an opportunity to swim with some sharks but this was declined. But with so many things to do an afternoon passes really quickly so a return visit may be on the cards. There is a cafe which offers well priced food and drinks whilst you look out into Auckland harbour.

“It's all about the penguins!”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

Fantastic! From the moving walkway through the underwater 'tubes' for viewing the sharks, rays and fish to the replica of Captain Robert Falcon Scott's Antarctic Hut... everything was a visual treat and just awesome. A lot of interactive exhibits, touch pools and educational exhibits too. But the highlight is definitely seeing the Antarctic penguin colony exhibit. King and Gentoo penguins delighted us as they swam, waddled and preened themselves right in front of us. Highly recommend a visit!
