Owner description: Sea Life Kelly Tarlton’s is New Zealand’s most famous aquarium! It is home to New Zealand's only sub-Antarctic penguins and offers a myriad of opportunities to get up close and personal with incredible marine life from the Pacific and Southern oceans. For a truly incredible experience, take the plunge on an Animal Adventure jump into the shark tank and go snorkeling with 14 massive sharks or jump on the ice and get up close and personal with the King and Gentoo penguins!

What a rip off!!
I only went because I had a 50% off voucher and it was still about 30 dollars. Probably better for Kids
Its not that impressive except for the giant penguins and stingrays.

Thank Vicky H

Worth a visit, but overpriced for what you get. Everything is done well, and is worth a look, but I still cannot see the value in paying the amount you pay for such a 'small' attraction. So I would recommend to go, but bring a load of cash because it isn't cheap!

We booked the On Ice Encounter with the Penguins. We got 30 minutes sitting with the penguins but we also got a fabulous behind the scenes tour. We fed fish that wanted to take our hands off, and saw the rehab center for turtles and other injured animals and fish. We went in warm clothes and boots they provided on the ice and Darren, who was the manager, and Michelle, a keeper, chatted about the penguins as they came to visit us. Toddy, a very old penguin cane straight to Darren and stood on his rubber mat as he has arthritis. Noah was really busy and naughty. Well worth the money and of course you can tour the aquarium afterwards.

Visited here on a very cold rainy Friday. We caught the free shuttle bus from the city. It was a very busy day, but we still managed to find parts in the attraction where we were away from others. Just be mindful if you are catching the free shuttle back to the city - we got to it about 15 minutes before scheduled departure time and we were the last 2 to get a seat, so if you meed to get the shuttle back make sure on a busy day you get to it early.

I also like the fact that they have reduced admission prices for children with disabilities and their carer's - this makes it a good day out. On the day we were there I found by lunchtime (ie 12) there was not a lot of hot food ie; pies etc left - I understand it was a very cold day but I would have expected to be able to get something that early.

Spent 4 hours running around in here! Go week days and its quieter. Cafe is average. Great with so many things for kids to wow at! Friendly staff too!
