Came here for the 'Who Shot Rock & Roll' exhibition, but it is just a beautiful space to come into... They have done such a great job with the restoration, and the exhibitions they have now... I really love Toi o Tamaki :)

This is such a fun place with a real mix of artistic styles to suit most tastes. There's plenty for children to day and they have lots of presentations, talks and events on throughout the year. We last went when the exhibition "Who Shot Rock & Roll" was on. I'm not normally a fan of photographic art but thoroughly enjoyed this. It was well presented and thoroughly engaging.

There is something special about Auckland Art Gallery. The architecture is stunning, the mix of old and new buildings is fantastic. Their permanent display is of a reasonably high standard, and visiting exhibitions always interesting. They often have great side talks, movies etc to compliment existing exhibitions. The kids love it too, happy to spend a couple of hours there. They love the fossils in the floor, most of the time they are looking downwards searching for bigger fossils! The cafe is nice too, not too expensive, nice to sit out on the verandah.
