Amazing art, amazing scultures, amazing entrance - so proud of you Auckland. The gallery needs several visits - a lot to take in. Do a floor at a time or a painting of a favourite artist at a time. The design is amazing incorporating the old columns in with the new and glass views out to the park at the back. Amazing!

this is the place for you!

But even if it isn't, there is a lot of 'traditional' art, with some beautiful Victorian paintings. I confess that I prefer art in the form of paintings and drawings, and there were an abundance of these, as well as contemporary art exhibitions.

This is a wonderful wonderful place to visit no matter what the weather outside - but always a great stand-by for visitors on those really grey days!

I was a little disappointed in the art gallery in Auckland. I remembered it as much more interesting. I found it rather cold and impersonal. Perhaps I just didn't enjoy what they were showing at the time I visited. Also, I'd recently been to Kelvingrove in Glasgow which is absolute perfection!
