My wife and I spent four hours touring this marvelous museum. The diverse exhibits featured several aspects of the New Zealand maritime history including the sailing craft of the indigenous people, the arrival of the Europeans by ship including the immigrant experience, the evolution of multiple and varied maritime vessels in the whaling, timber, and coastal economies, navigation, and the more recent America’s Cup sailing competition featuring the glorious efforts of the New Zealand teams led by Sir Peter Blake. There are interactive exhibits and activities for the kids. This is a great museum activity for the whole family.
