Owner description: Auckland's Sky Tower is the tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere, this tower is more than 300 metres high. Offering stunning views, along with award winning restaurants, a gift shop and an opportunity to push your limits by walking the outside of the viewing platforms, or by jumping off from 192 metres above Auckland's CBD.

We went up the sky tower just after it opened, the glass elevator ride up was interesting.
As we were very early and it was raining so the view was obscured we decided to take a coffee break and hope that the weather cleared up.

The coffee bar was very busy as most other people had the same idea, however they took our order, told us that it would be about 20 minutes and then we were able to find a table to look over the city whilst we waited, very relaxing.

Once our break was over we enjoyed looking out at Auckland from the observation level.

Mini Las Vegas. Not as good as the real thing. Certainly not for international visitors.

Had a great time here. Went to the top and then sat in the cafe and took in the sights. Great day.

My Boyfriend booked Orbit restaurant as a way to celebrate the start off our 4month travelling adventure! He could not of chosen anything more perfect! We have drinks in the bar prior to our meal (standard glass of champagne) then go up to our table in the revolving restaurant! If you go, make sure you don’t leave your bag on the side as you will soon find out it has revolved away from you!

It is an amazing experience to be able to tuck into your meal overlooking an incredibly beautiful city and watch it change as the sunsets (make sure you book so you can watch the sunset). The sky changed and turned into an incredible blue/aqua color filled the sky and the whole city came to life with light.

The food was above average for a tourist spot, but you pay for the view! Slow cooked lamb (which you have to have in NZ) Callelloni with a cauliflower puree and my BF tried the Goats cheese. Both opting for a fillet steak for our main, which was ok, again you pay for the view! Washed down with a NZ Cabernet Sauv. We managed to make it through our starters and suddenly the jet lag hit us right in the face! We feel like space cadets, barley able to converse! I am sure the revolving restaurant and wine added to the feeling!

After the main course we are ready to drop, willing someone to come and carry us back to our room! We just about make it back, even though every flat surface looked very appealing! What a day! All I can say is it is definitely worth a visit but don't expect Michelin star food, the service was good and the view was worth every penny!

If you are going to NewZealand and would like to check out the adventure of two foodies and winos, who love life and adventure sports around the North and South Island for 3 weeks in a camper van then take a look at www.carpediem-life.com ! Feel free to contact me and to comment for more info :). We are also travelling around Australia and South East Asia, if you have a second check it out!
